    Elk Outfitters

You either don't get it...or don't want to get it. You do not determine success/harvest rates by a single unit...there are units with higher success historically but even those units have years with low harvest due to weather conditions/winter kill/ and other factors....but nobody intentionally...

    Elk Outfitters

Talking about state wide...not specific units. There are units that have higher success rates than others, but overall they are below 10% and most closer to 5% on public non draw units..they used to have higher success rates, but in the recent years there are more and more tags being purchased...

Look on the Fish and Game sites per state for OTC public land success rates (meaning tags punched)...maybe draw states are higher...

    Elk Outfitters

This is not uncommon. I have researched and hunted with may outfitters and they all are snake oil salesman (ESPECIALLY NEW MEXICO). They will tell you anything to get you to book the hunt, send old or fake photos of elk that have been harvested, give you clients to call for "references" and 99%...

    Milligan Brand Chama, NM

Thanks for the reply...glad you had a good experience...I can tell you what you experienced is not the norm at that outfitter. Best of luck on future hunts!

    Milligan Brand Chama, NM

Glad you had a better experience. With that said, I find it hard to believe that none of them were drunk while you were there as literally every morning, afternoon, during hunts, and at night they all drank crown royal and other alcohol all day long as other hunters experienced and shared in...

    Southern Utah Any Bull Elk

If you can get Big Bull Tag it "might" be worth it on rifle....with open bull (spike or cow)...dont waste the time. I can only speak for Wasatch area...ive heard other areas are better with less pressure.

    Outfitters in Colorado

I generally search all available reviews and hunting forums for any info on the outfit...ask for past clients I can speak with...look at all their social media/websites or any other information available. The problem is alot of "outfitters" are professional liars and it is impossible to find...

    Hunting guide???

A Camp cook being a guide also is not uncommon....basically means the outfitter is cheap and doesn't want to hire a cook also, so he has guides doing some cooking and my guess is the food is very basic

    Outfitters in Colorado

Ive hunted twice in NM on private and once on public...both private were complete ripoff....zero hunters got an elk...only 1 had a shot (in rut) ...I'll never go back to that state....what you see on TV or on their websites never matches what you actually get and every "outfitter" ive hunted...

    Outfitters in Colorado

Depends on the budget...Private land with lots of Bulls is generally 14-22k from what I have seen. Even with that there is no guarantee of a bull.

    Best elk outfitter in Colorado?

There are a few that can fit what you are looking for...all 20k plus. I hunted at one this past year in Colorado (nowhere near 20k) who guaranteed a bull (archery)..but never got closer than 200 yards ...saw and heard lots of bulls...would have been good for rifle...but I am not willing to pay...

    Hunting guide???

That is what I have found for Elk in the lower 48 as well. Ive been to Alaska and it is by far the place that you 100% need local knowledge due to the terrain, animals, and weather. Its the Outfitter that cant get experienced or good guides...so they reach out looking for help...lots of...
