    South Texas Questions

I love south Texas. I live 20 miles from the Gulf and fifteen minutes from Mexico. Dove, quail, javalina, whitetails, nilgai, and an inexhaustible supply of wild hogs. Also this is the only place in US where you can hunt chachalacas. The coast has duck hunting that will probably surpass 95% of...

How to deal with CO Wolves

I feel sorry for native Coloradoans. Immigrants from the left coast have risen to the point where native Coloradoans have little, if any, say so in statewide ballot initiatives. A FEW wolves on the landscape is fine. Major problems arise when "animal lovers" succeed in preventing or restricting...

    Lightest waterproof rain coat?

I agree 100%. Any thing made of Gore-Tex or marketed as breathable is not completely waterproof. As stated above, anything that is totally waterproof is not light. Recreating in real soaking rain for hours or days requires a ;non breathable fabric. As a licensed gulf coast charter captain...

Kill kit weights and ideas. Lets see yours? Ideas?

I like the way you're thinking. My "kit" consists of a knife, two elk quarter bags, one small bag for backstrap & tenders, some 700 lb test Dyneema super braid for tying legs etc when butchering on a steep slope. I almost always opt for the complete bone out. I'm too old to carry bones.

    Kuiu vs Mystery Ranch Packs

I have a Kuiu Pro 5200 which I've been using for years. It's worked great for me. Plenty big for a week or so Wilderness backpack hunt. Its a great meat hauler with the load sling. The heart of any pack is the frame, and in my humble opinion, Kuiu's carbon fiber frame is the best in the...

Kill kit weights and ideas. Lets see yours? Ideas?

Nite Ize cam sounds good. Gave up using para cord years ago. Now we use Dyneema 700 ld test super braid. Stronger, lighter, stands up to dragging over tree branches when hanging food bags (horse and human) away from bears. Kind of pricey but 50 ft or more probably weighs an ounce.

    best rifle cover

I did read all of the posts. Have hunted many times in blowing snow and sleet. I hunt with a SS Tika Lite Hunter and put the little thumb do hickeys they use for counting money over the muzzle to guard against ice and snow plugs. Never chamber a round until final approach. Have never had a...
