Optic for Shorty light weight rifle

I actually have a NF 2.5-10x42 on my 270. I’m suprised it’s lighter than the Credo I was looking at. SFP vs FFP but at such low Mag FFP is probably not needed.

Optic for Shorty light weight rifle

Built my son a custom shorty. BAT Bumblebee action, Manners EH4 stock, and 18in Proof carbon fiber barrel. Chambered in 6.5 Creed. Gun will finish under 8lbs depending on the optic. He’s a good shot. We hunt a mix of timber and open food plots. Shots primarily under 100yds…but we have the...

    Insulated pad

Love my a big Agnes Q Core insulated pad. Have used it with a Kifaru Woobie in 0* temps.

    Hilleberg Nallo

What are other 4 person options? The Trango is heavy. The MSR stuff seams flimsy

    Hilleberg Nallo

I’m having trouble finding an alternative 4 person shelter. That’s less weight than the nallo but also robust

    Hilleberg Nallo

Yeah not ideal. But I’m slightly weight conscious. A keron or Kaitum are over my weight limit. My Redcliff and nest comes in around 9lbs so I’m trying to keep this next purchase 9lbs or less

    Hilleberg Nallo

I have plenty of floorless shelters / stoves. What I need is a Spring - to - Fall shelter for me and my two boys (ages 9 and 10). I’m considering a Nallo 4GT. Wind and rain can be pretty severe where we hike / hunt. As well as the ticks. Anybody have an opinion on the Hilleberg Nallo?

Durston X-Mid 2p Solid and Seek Outside DST. First Pitch

Plan on pairing my DST with a ZPacks Triplex. Similiar to you’re setup. Let’s us know how you like it

    ZPacks Triplex Performance

Considering picking up a Zpack Triplex for the warmer months when bugs are more of an issue where I’m hiking / scouting. I need a light 3 person shelter when I take my two sons with me. How do the ZPacks shelters do in wind and rain? Is performance on par with my Seek Outside Redcliff?

    Backpacks for Hiking/Thru Hiking

When you’re talking hiking 2500 miles in 3-5months you really have to do your research. I love my Stone Glacier frame and pack. Just used it hiking in the Smokies a few weeks ago. But if I was thru hiking the AT or PCT I’d be going with a ZPacks pack for sure. You just don’t need a frame capable...

Ideas on new shelters - need some opinions.

When you say family how many are we talking? I have a 16man SO tipi when I have my wife, 3 kids, and dogs. If it’s just me and my two boys (ages 10 and 9) I take my redcliff. Which provides ample room for all of us on Helinox cots, packs, stove, gear. In the warmer months when bugs are an...

    Suggestions on tents

With a 2k budget I’d be all over a Seek Outside Redcliff Lite with stove Jack. And a full nest made by BearPaw Wilderness Designs. That’s the setup I ended up with and it’s a year round palace for hiking / camping with my two boys.

Is the SO DST Tarp outdated?

I really really like the versatility of the DST. My son wants one to keep in his pack. He’s 10yrs old. He’s to the age now where he wants to “help setup camp” and have some of his own gear and responsibilities. This may be a good option for him because it’s not overtly heavy and easy to pitch...

Is the SO DST Tarp outdated?

I’m looking to pick up my first tarp. Backpack use so I’m weight conscious. Primarily as a quick pop up shelter for glassing, butchering, getting out of the rain in a pinch. I have a SO Redcliff and 16man tipi. And the DST tarp would make a nice edition to those setups as an awning, vestibule...
