5 guys, two boats vs interior Alaska, and 1100 river miles!

Op had to have back surgery due to a bit of a tumble while hunting fall black bears up high. Unfortunately, he ended up with a raging post op infection and the disk re herniated. He was just released from bed rest and back to work a couple weeks ago. I promise one day, I will find the time to...

Rough. I really need to force myself to take the time and do this write up and post the pictures. It was filled with highs and lows and plenty of lessons learned. Some, I'm sure that many of you that have taken this kind of expedition have learned years ago, but maybe a "saving grace" lesson or...

    Bears still out on Peninsula?

Not that I've seen man. Last trip into backcountry was two weeks ago, lots of birds, but fresh bear sign was pretty non existent.

Same here, no problems with the chip. But we did purchase a couple more montanas and went the download method since we couldn't get any Alaska chips in the time frame we needed. Did have some issues with that, but was able to work through It with help from OnX. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I run a Garmin Montana 610T and have hs zero issues with rain and snow messing with the screen. When I'm moving I just "lock" the screen to the one I want and go. Like was mentioned before the Oregon and Montana love to eat batteries. I set my backlight at 10% or less and only turn it up when I...

The dead one got towed to a friends place in Wasilla and we took a different pickup to haul that boat. Made it to Fairbanks at 630 this morning. Hanging out in the walmart parking lot surrounded by rape vans. Things are kinda sketchy here... Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Aaaaannnnddd we're off!.... Well almost. Made it as far as Wasilla before vehicle #2 broke down.... Currently sitting at an Arby's waiting on the rest of the party, who is still on the Glenn highway waiting on a tow truck. The positive ? This happened on our way to pick up our final party member...

Everything in the boat getting tossed overboard. Had to empty all of the saltwater fishing gear and other "nice to haves", as well as scrub the front bow compartment to rid it of the fish slime. Ps. Ultra strength Dawn was not enough in one washing... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Actually at WestMarine right now looking for a fuel water separator funnel, just to add another layer of filtering to the river fuel. Hand pump has a filter as well as the boats. We're launching with 500 gallons of fuel. Hoping to keep river purchased fuel down to 200gallons or less. Chris...

Yes, we made some creature comfort sacrifices to allow room and weight for the chain saw. We're able bodied enough to hand saw and manually chop trees for the meat pole, but why when we can use a chain saw lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Home to home again will be just under 3 weeks. We have a 2 1/2 day drive to where we are launching the boats. If the ambient temperatures don't cooperate to effectively get the meat chilled, we plan on having a friend fly in to galena and haul it back to a processor for us. The first four or...
