    Climate change...deer numbers

Mule Deer populations in NW Montana, specifically the Flathead , have really tanked. Local biologists say that the preferred alpine food sources are disappearing in our historical best areas. They are saying an area west of Kalispell still has good alpine food and that the Mule Deer numbers there...

Ruger 10/22 Backpacker Takedown or .....

I have a 10-22 backpacker and really like it. Initially the rifle shot terrible. I sent it back to Ruger and they re-crowned the barrel. Shoots amazingly good now. I'm using the scout mount with a holosun 507. Initial bad experience but Ruger was great to deal with. One of my favorite fun...

    Sticky Expander Ball

Good chance you have a slight coating of brass on your expander. Once that coatng builds up it will really stick to an unlubed case. It will take a bit more cleaning g than just wiping with solvent.

Stockys Carbon Fiber Stock for Savage

My son just bought the same stock. It didn't come with the hardware for the rear of the triggerguard like yours. I called them up and they sent the specialized nut and bolt required for it. They said it should have been in the box. Also the front receiver bolt off the old stock was too short to...

    Paid load development flop, wwyd?

Just texted him and his "benchmark" is es in the 20's and lower. So yep, a lot lower than 100. He did say it again, you don't know what a load will do until you put it on paper. I've noticed a considerable difference in my specific rifles in es between Virginia brass and fired brass but not...

    Paid load development flop, wwyd?

I dont recall the exact number. His point was that you have to shoot at long range to know what the load will do and a higher es didn't always rule out a load. He talked about starting your load development at 600 yards and felt that 100 yard load development for long range shooting was not...

    Paid load development flop, wwyd?

I have a friend that is quite successful at 1000 yard bench rest competition. I was talking with him about precision loading techniques. One of the things he talked about was es. Testing your loads at long-range and how surprisingly how well higher es loads can shoot at long range.

My beautiful customized Henry Classic Side Gate 45-70

How does it shoot. I just bought the same rifle a month ago. Also put a set of skinner sights on it. I'm in the process of sending mine back to Henry now for accuracy issues.

Why I avoid the range when it’s busy

I noticed a guy that was having problems with a 1911. I watched him rack the slide and the gun would not fire. Another rack of the slide and I saw something fall to the ground. Again the gun wouldn't fire. I paid more attention and when he racked the slide again I saw a cartridge bloop out the...
