Going crazy trying to pick a rifle

the 6.5 creedmoor is very tempting due to its recent availability but the 308 is still easier to find around me.

I also have a old 30-06 and some ammo but not as much. My other idea behind the 308 is my son will be able to handle the recoil much sooner.

Going crazy trying to pick a rifle

I should have cleared that up a little better. Recoil isn't really my concern....More than that its the steadiness of the rifle during the shot.

Going crazy trying to pick a rifle

I have spent my life hunting deer in ohio with a bow. At this point I am wanting to challenge my self more and head west after mule deer and elk. I have purchased most of the gear except a good bolt action. Id like to stick with a easily found caliber ( 308 or 30-06) and dont plan to take crazy...

Sounds like a good time. I have a lot of gear to buy before I head west but I’m hoping for next year. We will see. It’s hard to spend the coin with 4 youngsters running around haha

    Flat lander FNG from Ohio

That’s kinda the point I’m at. I focus 99% of my time getting my kids on deer. Besides that I kill a doe opening weekend then hunt bucks hard in November.

    Flat lander FNG from Ohio

Howdy! I’m a flat lander sissy from Ohio that will probably fall over the first time I set foot on a mountain. That being said I’m starting my journey now. I have been a extremely successful whitetail hunter in my area and I have that wonderlust to try something else.

At that age get him a used diamond atomic or nuclear ice. Trust me you won’t regret it. That’s what all my kids started on. Now they are amazing shots

Looking for opinions - small property hunters

I hunt a 70 acre lot in Ohio. Only about half of it is wooded. My rule of thumb is heavy scouting with cameras. I figure out the exact movement. My second rule is multiple stand locations. With that small of a lot you need to be able to hunt in any wind condition and hunt as much as possible. I...
