    Iron Will Broadhead Giveaway!

I'd love to give the S125's a shot. Would be nice to run them through a couple critters this fall! Thanks Bill!

Windicator / Wind checker. How much?

I always keep a little bottle in my chest harness and a full size backup bottle in my pack. Rarely have to use the backup, but its nice piece of mind. Lately i have been packing some wind floaters as well, also in the chest harness.

Elk Elevation always has me guessing?

Within reason I usually find the majority of elk in September where people aren't. I hunt Idaho more often so take this with a grain of salt, but if the trail systems are in the alpine/high elevation, often the elk I hunt are middle mountain or even lower elevations. I usually try to find a...

    Swarovski NL Pure Binoculars?

Looks like $3,299 US...Getting pretty steep for a non-RF bino. I probably won't be an early adopter at that price, but will still be interested if the 12x42's are as good as advertised and don't get rolling ball.

    Outdoorsmans vs Kramer Bino Tower

No experience with KDC, but I hear they rock. If the KDC doesn't get you where you need to be, the Field Optics Research V2 probably will. I have swapped to it and it rocks. Probably wouldn't be quite stable enough for 15's, but for 10x42's it rocks and I suspect 12's wouldn't be an issue.

What does everyone do for a living?

Thanks so much for responding. I'm probably past the point in my career where I could justify making a switch, but its nice to hear it is a fullfilling path! Cheers and best of luck this season

What does everyone do for a living?

Tried to get into this just out of college...didn't manage it and ended up in beverage manufacturing engineering. Do you enjoy it? certainly sounds like a great time!

    Long johns vs puffy pants?

I have a pair of puffy pants and find I leave them at home on all but the coldest of hunts. They are great but I usually stay plenty warm with a 200 weight ice breaker under thin nylon pants like Prana Zions. I am good down to the 20's for fairly long glassing sessions as long as I keep my core...

    Favorite Bourbon Opinions

IMHO anything "better" than blantons will be $$$ or very difficult to get. For me it is where price, quality, and availability meet on the curve...although availability is decreasing rapidly. If you can find it Stagg Jr. is a little better in my opinion. Closest in the value category is probably...

Is this generally a better option to working for large commercial trucking companies or retail trucking?

What Western State To Retire In?

South Western Idaho is generally nicer climate, but any decent hunting will be a low percentage limited draw or a long drive. The population is also exploding and prices are skyrocketing. Property taxes there also aren't as friendly as they used to be. Eastern or northern Idaho would be much...

12 year old son drew 46-2 Trophy Bull Tag

I totally agree with this. The two best tags (by a wide margin) I have have had in my lifetime were both youth hunts and I had no idea how blessed I was to have them. Looking back I wish I would have had a better idea of the rarity of the opportunity so I could have put more effort/time in. I...

    The Grill vs Cast Iron

Tender cuts, I'm a big fan of a quick sear in cast iron then baste with butter. Charcoal is also great for tender cuts but I find myself doing it less on wild game and more with fatty meats like beef. For tough cuts I am a big fan of getting a good crust over high heat and then slow braising...
