    Who brings a multi tool?

I carry a Leatherman Wave. I carry it because it is one of the few multi tools that you can open the blade one-handed, and without opening the whole tool. The Wave can open two blades, one serrated and one not, using only one hand.

    Gluten free backpacking food

Hit up REI, as they have several different brands that cater to the minority market (veg, vegan, cruelty free meat, etc.). I could swear I saw some that were labeled gluten-free.

What do you use for a pack saw?

I use a Sawvivor. I got it from Amazon a couple years ago. I was unaware they were bankrupt. Is the blade a standard blade that you can source elsewhere? I bought two extra blades at the time, but at some point I'm sure I'll need additional.

how do you store a sleeping bag??

Of course they sell it. Are you expecting them to give their products away for free? The Chinese made stuff probably includes a stuff sack, storage sack, inflatable pillow, and compact car. If you want to keep your money in the US, you can't expect $6/day sweatshop labor prices. Sorry to...

Standing by for the aforementioned video of the new sleeping bags... :)

    marmot helium or kifaru slick

I am 6', 200lbs, 44" chest, 34" waist, and the standard Slick bag is pretty much unusable for me. The first bag I got was wide, and it had plenty of room. I picked up a standard width bag used, and when I received it, I was shocked at how narrow it was. I bought the first bag wide simply for...

    just had to share

I built the same bench (changed the dimensions some to avoid having to rip the top planks), and I did something nearly identical. I bored two holes in the front facial board and put two iron gas pipes through the holes, built a simple rail system underneath, and made a wide platform that...

how do you store a sleeping bag??

They'll include one if you want. Just add it to your cart before you check out.

how do you store a sleeping bag??

Many bags have loops on the end to hang them for storage. If you need a storage sack, Kifaru makes a terrific one.

    Hammock Sleepers?

I don't know any better, so I use a Clark North American. Serious hammockers will probably look down on my setup, but I use a Kifaru Doobie as an under quilt, and a Woobie as a quilt. I'm sure there are better ways, but I took it down to 10* using a 40* slick bag and my cold weather gear...

    Reccomend a bag

Costco has had 15* mummy bags for $30 for the last few years. I think they bring their camping stuff out in February. I picked up a couple for sleepovers, truck camping, sending the kids off to camp, etc. They are warm, have vents, an inflatable pillow in a pillow sleeve, and a comfy flannel...

    water blader and fitration system

I use Source Hydration bladders and Sawyer filters. They work together as if they were designed to. When rolling lightweight, I use the Sawyer Squeeze with a QC adapter. It takes me less then 5 minutes to replenish my 3L bladder, without removing it from my pack. I just remove the...

    Non hunting brand backpacks

Aside from the designed capabilities, some people care about where the packs are made. USA labor ain't cheap. I realize some don't care, but I kind of like the idea that I could hop in my car and drive for about half a day to CO and talk to the man who sewed the pack that is in the room with...

    Canister fuel inventory

I carry a sharpie as part of my kit, and just put a tick mark on my Jetboil can every boil. I typically carry an extra, as they don't weigh much, so when it runs out, I switch. Once I get back home, when I'm unpacking, I check the can in the cup and if it's got more than 12 ticks, I punch it and...
