    Favorite Solid Color for Hunting

I actually wear quite a bit of red (either bright or brick red). Deer can't distinguish it and it doesn't look like a deer.

    Favorite Solid Color for Hunting

I like that. Very neutral, not too light not too dark, blends well with tans, greens, browns.

    Favorite Solid Color for Hunting

One of the benefits of solids. I wear a lot of the stuff I hunt in to work all fall and winter.

WTS Lightly used Sitka Fanatic Jacket - XL

Still $299, almost $200 off retail. If you're looking to stay warm this is a good investment.

    Hunting Gloves Recommendations

Not to bump an old thread but, I figure this might still benefit some people out there and I'd rather not start a new thread on the same topic, seems wasteful. In the cold season I wear Dachstein boiled wool gloves. They are kind of thick, but are surprisingly dexterous once you've worn them a...

    Duck Camp Camo

Nice, yeah they're good for October-November in PA. I wore them just about anytime temps were between 25-45°F last year, and plan on doing the same this year. Anything warmer and I prefer pants, anything colder I'd rather use my Coldfjall CoS bibs... but I get cold easily.

    Duck Camp Camo

I like them, depending on your need. My quick summary is I like the pocket layout, they are quiet and comfortable, I really liked the fit and cut, they are fairly water repellent as long as you aren't getting poured on or sitting on a wet surface. In my experience if it misted or rained lightly...

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Fanatic is excellent for what you want. Like you said, make sure you don't put it on until you get there or you're going to roast alive.

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Ultimately I don't think you can go wrong with a grid fleece or alpaca/wool if that is what you're looking for. Obviously if you want something that is warmer to serve as static insulation then you can start looking at baffled synthetic insulations or down, but since he mentioned the Core LW...

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Definitely agree that alpaca/wool dry more slowly and absorb more moisture but they also are better at retaining their thermal properties when wet. Since they aren't directly next to the skin because they're midlayers I don't worry as much about them absorbing a little moisture. I suppose in a...

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

I think "*much* more warmth for weight" is a bit of a stretch. Average CLO/oz. for synthetic fleece is .090, whereas alpaca is .086 and merino wool is .084. Really that's not a significant difference. Of course we are comparing averages and individual values will vary, but the insulative...

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Personally I almost always wear a lightweight alpaca hoodie over my Woolnets. It's very warm but it breathes extremely well and is very light and doesn't start to stink. If it's warmer than usual I still wear them under a sun hoodie. In general I like to wear wool/alpaca for base and midlayers...

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Maybe it's just all in my head but I feel like the fishnets are warmer for me for my stationary hunting than my normal baselayers ever were. That said, it's really about managing moisture. Do you usually get sweaty walking into your stand? It looks like from your comment that you do. I do, and...

Best lightweight hooded fishing shirt for sun protection

I'd call it athletic, but not tight. I feel like it's a good cut. This is me in the crewneck version of the original bamboo shirt. I'm 6'1 240ish and this is an XL for reference.

Best lightweight hooded fishing shirt for sun protection

I absolutely love the Duck Camp lightweight bamboo hoodies. Very light, very cool, very comfortable. It's UPF20+. I use them fishing, boating, kayaking, etc. Cost $64, but you can find sales every once in a while that make them more affordable and if you're a first time customer i think there's...
