So moose experts, what is you take on calling? Bull sounds, cow sounds, extra whiny cow sounds, combinations? I have called in a couple just messing around before. Just wondering what your go to sequences consist of.
I let the progression of the rut dictate what sounds I make to draw them in. Get the video called love thunder bull and love thunder bull II. I follow what that guy says and have great luck calling them in here in AK. Put down a nice 54" bull this year.
I do a lot of moose hunting, but I won't claim to be an expert.
I primarily use cow calls as we have an immature bull season here (2pt) and I do not like to scare them off. I'll break out the bull grunts and tree raking for responding bulls that hang up on the way in.
I do sequences of cow calls (1 to 3) in varying lengths. My calls are generally nasal. My call frequency increases from 20 minute to 5 minute intervals as sunset approaches. (The opposite is true for the morning hunt).
