Those are great pictures and nice billies. I am very jealous. I was lucky enough to finally draw a tag this year but my hunting unit is on fire and am not sure if I will be able to go.
I hope you are able to get up there and find a goat for yourself. What state did you draw in? Do they let you hunt next year if the unit is closed off this year?

Here are a few more pics of some goats from the weekend. I think I saw 56 goats over the weekend. Most were nannies and kids. My parents went to another spot and they seen around 45 head.

The weekend was my 15 year old nephew's first backpacking hunt. He got a shot on a 3 point buck at 60 yards but shot a little low. He made a couple more stalks and got close but never did get another shot. It was a fun weekend.

I am in Montana. I have been scouting a few times and have only seen one shooter billy and one great big grizzly. Last week two fires started right where i was going to hunt. It is sad to see and it is just my luck that i finally drew a tag. I am sure enjoying seeing all your pictures. Good luck and keep the pictures coming. Goats are one of the coolest animals.

My mom and I left work at noon yesterday and made a quick trip to look at some some different goats. Most the goats we seen were transplants with either collars or tags in their ears. A couple didn't have tags or collars though. We glassed 18 head in about 3 hours.

Here are some more pictures from the last few times we've been out.

I hauled my boy to the top on Sunday afternoon. My mom and dad rode their horse and mule up. It was windy and cold so we didn't stay long.

We had one billy walking right towards us on the of the mountain yesterday. She could have killed him at about 200 yards but it was only me and her up there and she wants my dad to be with her when she shoots. It was a good day hiking up over the mountain and looking at goats. I glassed up a group a long ways away on another mountain and we saw 4 billies. Then walking down we ran in to another big group. Overall we saw 60-65 goats yesterday.

Nice. Up on Delano I see, usually goats all over up there. Last time I was up there we were going to hike to the peak but a storm came in and put us in the clouds so we didn't risk it with the lightning. Beautiful up there.

We went out 2 weeks ago and found a good goat. She was willing to shoot him but the fog and snow settled in and our visibility went to zero. As it eased up I looked for a way down the cliffs. When I finally found a way down the goats had moved off and it was late in the day.

I was hunting deer for 5 days from last Wednesday to Sunday for the muzzleloader hunt. I didn't do much glassing for goats but I did turn up 3 that I had heard about in some different country we haven't looked at until now. I was a few miles from them and never did get a close look at them. My mom and dad rode their mule and horse up there today and watched them. They found 2 initially and watched them for a few hours. As they were riding down the mountain the other one came out. She decided she wants to shoot one so we are headed up there tomorrow morning. Hopefully we'll be giving a goat a ride to the truck tomorrow afternoon. If I have service l'll post a pic or two. Here's a fuzzy pic of one of the three.

I was up high mule deer hunting and glassed 23 in one herd over by Delano. They had 2 or 3 kids and some nice studs in there. I was over 3 miles or so away- but they fed up to the top and headed down in to So Fork of Bullion (Cottonwood Canyon) Good luck

We are sitting on this one right now. Still looking for his 2 buddies. 550 yards across the canyon from here.

She's watching trying to decide. One has a bigger looking body. One has a little longer horns. What goat would you shoot? Right or left? :)

This would be a good problem to have. Imo both are good goats. I like the one on the right but that is just my opinion. good luck

I think the one on the right is both bigger in body and better horn length. But with only that pic, it is not easy to tell. Especially with goats, judging horn length is really tough as proportional to its body a small goat might look better than mature billy. 8" horns on a 120lbs body look longer than 9.5" horns on a 200lbs body in my experience.

The smaller bodied goat has his head in a bush now. Can't get a good pic to compare. We are waiting to see if they move a little so it doesn't fly when she shoots. If she anchors him where he's at it will be ok
