What state offers August archery hunting for deer? Trying to do an early hunt in 2017 before labor day next year. It would be a nonresident OTC tag. Any suggestions on advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
Utah's archery deer (and elk) starts in August. It's not OTC, but many units can be drawn with 0 points. Elk is OTC and you can take a cow basically anywhere. It depends on exactly where you are hunting whether you can take any bull or just a spike though.
Offhand: Arizona, Utah, Nevada, California. California is the earliest with some starting in July. Next earliest are Nevada/Arizona/Utah. Colorado starts the last Saturday of August every year so depending on the year you'd get a week in August. Not all are exactly OTC but plenty of easy to draw tags.
