Montana Unit 312-50 Muley Buck Tag

Just curious if anybody on here has hunted 312 at all, for deer or elk. I scouted the unit some last week while out bear hunting. Looks like a fun area to hunt, although access is fairly limited. Drew the mule deer buck tag for that unit this year, and might try to tag an elk as well in there. Any info is appreciated!!

I live in Bozeman and know several guys who have had the tag in the past. There are some good deer up there, but the main reason it's so hard to draw is because it's so close to town. If they didn't limit he tags it would be hunted out in a few years time. There is also a pretty bad cat problem, and not enough of the quote gets taken on the public land. It can get pretty crowded with locals chasing elk, and thus the elk quality isn't nearly as good as the surrounding areas. Then there is the private land issues. Like I said there are good deer, but it's a pretty tough hunt and despite the hard draw it really isn't a trophy unit.
