trying to get some info on Arizona OTC units for late seaon hunts. are there units available for OTC in January for the rut?

It's somewhat weather-dependent, I've seen them rock'in by mid-December with a cold snap. Christmas/New-Years' is a pretty safe bet.

If I was going to buy for AZ, I'd buy for 2018, and if I didn't fill my tag during the late hunt, it would still be good come this time next year.

Hunting license is a year from when you buy it (they changed it a few years ago), or if you buy it online you can specify the start date within certain limits from when you buy it. OTC archery deer tag is a calendar year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31).

Do you have any specific wilderness areas in mind? Like the Sierra Anchas or Superstitions? Depending on what elevation you are, you may find more whitetails than muleys near the creeks.
