Getting excited. I start my Utah Muzzle loader hunt here in Utah in a couple weeks. I head out of state next week, get back, and then head to the mountain.
I have never hunted deer with the muzzle loader, so this will be fun.
We just got snow up at 12,000' too.
I'll be camping in my tipi and using the LO stove. Expecting some cold weather, but warm tenting.

I will also be testing my electronics package I've been setting up all summer.
I intended to use it on my Elk hunt here,, but was blessed to tag out 2nd night and didn't even get to eat all my snacks
lol

I am going all rechargeable and have one item with reg batteries. Not carrying all the extra batteries, allowed me the ability to carry an extra 18000 mah pack. With 2 of these I should be good for 5 days.

Hoping to report back on the set up pros and cons... as well as a pic or two of a decent high mountain buck.

Got the New Swaro spotter set up today.
Put it on a Vortex High Country with a Benro head.

Hoping this set up handles the abuse.
For digiscoping I have the Phone Skope universal adapter for my Galaxy S7 Edge
But I also ordered a Novagrade set up as well.
These just appear to be bulky, but cant wait to try both out

My scouting trips will be 1 or 2 days max, as I have to leave the state for a week.
But my pack is packed and camping gear is all ready to go.

It's already getting into the 20's up there but still warming to the 50's.
Gonna love my LO stove in my tipi for sure.

I got a "Back Pack" for my go pro, so I can see if the dang thing is on.
I turned it on for my elk kill shot this year and it didn't come on, and I didn't know it. Bummer I missed the whole thing.

I will be at 9000-10000' for the first 3-4 days of the hunt. If they have moved down, I will be relocating to another area altogether.

My newest phone skope set up for the swaro
Really wish there was a case where we didn't have to take off the otter box, and still not be big and bulky

I didn't weigh it, but I'm not having to hike in too far, so I'll be ok
I hope

Due to freezing temps already up there I'm carrying my water in
The main water hole had cattle there all year so yea, I'll carry my own in

Looks like a good trip, I was up in the uintas with a SO cimarron and got some snow, it was pretty awesome to wake up to a dusting. If you want backup for packing out meat shoot me a message. Looking forward to seeing you post up some cool pics!

That's not your typical two point!

Nice buck, great shot, and thanks for sharing with us.

He was in some brushy area with tree limbs hanging all around. But first I saw a nice 3 or 4 pointer from my vantage point thru my binos.
I saw 4 does come out and 5 minutes later he is on their trail. I set up to get a clean shot when he got spooked and retreated back into the thick area between feed and bed. I kept looking for him wonder where he went.
So I headed down to his last known area and went to where he likely came from.
There were some cattle in the direct area feeding, so I figured if I kept the wind right I could just get right in there.

I spooked up 4 or 5 deer, only seeing their legs, but I saw this guys horns briefly, knowing he had to be my 3 or 4 pointer due to his size.
He stopped to scratch and I got the scope on him, and saw horns but never determined it was a forky. It just appeared to be the bigger one I saw a half hour earlier. My hunt was coming to a close for me so I decided to take the shot, as his body was plenty big for me (out of venison).

I was surprised to only see a 2 pointer, but pleased with his body for sure.

My wife has a rifle tag so I can look for the big guy then, while we feast on this tender 3 1/2 year old.
