Arizona deer habits

This past January I went down archery hunting for deer in Arizona. I actually made plays on several nice bucks, but in the end, couldn’t get it done. I was in a unit that was more central AZ, but not high elevation either. My question, do Mule deer in AZ migrate with the seasons? Or will the same unit I hunted in January be just as good in August? Thanks!

Some of our herds are very migratory and others hangout in the same areas all the time. The behavior is going to be way different in August.

We are going through an absolutely terrible drought right now. Predator kills are out of control around water sources. Having some water sources with 40+ coyotes now that normally supported 1/10 that amount. Most water sources have gone dry. Our last good rains happened in early Sept. We have only had a few storms since with little runoff.

Focus on areas with large lakes nearby unless something changes soon.
