Looking to do my first south dakota archery hunt. Just started doing some scouting online and looking at the different areas to hunt. I am aware that you cannot drive in the walk in areas, but does that mean no driving what so ever? Or can you still drive on the roads that go through the WIA's?

There are some that allow driving, however they will be clearly marked if the road is open. In butte county there is a large section of WIA that has a two track that is accessible to the public, goes about 2 miles back into the property. If it is not clearly signed that it is a trail road open to the public I would use caution and just walk. Hope this helps.

I've never come across one of those. Another note, you are not allowed to camp in them.

Thanks for the help, trying to find some spots further away from the roads and was curious about the WIA's. I assume you can just park anywhere on the side of the road next to the WIA and walk right in (and hop the fence if there's one)?

Yes you can do that. They are all marked well on the fences.
