With four tags in my pocket the motivation is high to get ready for the fun ahead👊 Here is my old geezer daily workout until the knees are injected late in August.

Today

20 minutes on stair master 110 floors

10 minutes treadmill 15% grade

5 minute step ups with 30 PDs

4x15 leg sled
3minute wall squat
One round of hamstring curls left leg only bad knee does not like this
100 sit-ups
40 pull-ups
50 push-ups
About one hour keeping heart in 130 zone after the treadmill.

5 minute stretch with foam roller

40 arrows

Time for elk burgers👌

Short workout before wine thirty with the mrs.👌 Nothing special in bag but DILIGENCE👍

I would hate to not be ready come season. If thing don't work out that is hunting but I will be prepared.

20 minute stair machine 110 floors
Nice stretch
30 push-ups and 15 pull-ups out the door in 30 minutes thinking about these days👊

Day3
66 minutes on the rolling stairs of death is long time👍 Have to think of something good as the sweat pools🤙

Day 4 looking forward to cooler temps👍

60 minutes on the rolling death stairs 286 floors have used 300 as my bench mark for last several years so getting close.
100 sit-ups coming easier
4x15 leg sled
5 minute step ups with 30 pds
3 minute wall squat and one round of hammy curls
Left leg and good stretch..solid 1:30

Had to think about one of these days a couple of times👊

Day 5
30 arrows

Upper body workout
150 sit-ups
And casual stroll at 15% grade for 20
Good stretch and out the door
Another day closer to season👍

Day 6

Sitting at desk all days yuck
40 arrows

Down to the gym with mrs
30 min revolving stairs 157 floors
4x15 leg sled
3 min wall squat
5 minute steps with 30 pds
Hammy curl
Stretch
Elk burg dinner and wine thirty🤙

Day 7 grind
One week closer 49 days🤙
Total body workout
150 sit-ups
20 split between stair machine and treadmill
Stretch
40 arrows

Day 8

Thursday's tend to be weak day of the week.
20 arrows
35min rolling stairs with 15 min of intervals in that time 176 floors
18 min on treadmill at 15% grade 4.68 miles total uphill got those old calves burning👍
Stretch and jug of water
Getting close to chasing those crazy bullz🤙

Day 9
Thought I would hit that 300 floors in sixty funny how the body works on certain days
66 minutes on death stairs 297 floors
Good stretch and go shoot some arrows tonight.

Day10
Well I expected yesterday to be the killer day and it wasn't. After too much wine last night and a late night did not expect it today. I was pleasantly surprised. 66 minutes on the rolling stairs For 342 floors and was able to reach yesterday's total with 10 minutes remaining. Better drink extra wine more iften👍
30 arrows
Stretch
3 minute wall squat. Knee not liking this so may have to reduce or take this out of the routine at this time. One week and we are int august the velvet will be coming back from soon👍

One hour recovery day
Upper body workout mixture of body weight exercises and free weights
10 minute walk on incline to stretch things out
Stretch
40 arrows
And lots of day dreaming of these guys👍

Day12
Interval first 15 on revolving stairs blew myself up then hang on for another 18 min
10 on treadmill 15 grade like the s for the calves
Stretch
100 sit-ups
Feeling good about status👍

Day13
Total body workout
40 pull-ups
100 sits
Stretch
15 elipictical on max setting no arm use trying to hit quads and ass only
5 min step ups
Out door in 55 min one day closer🤙

Day 14 two weeks down and a week closer👍 2o arrows
Did the same routine as last Thursday and was able the get to 187 floors so good progress🤙Thinking about heavy bulls👊

Solid day on revolving stairs after long week
66min 313 floors 289 in 60
5 min stepups
100 sit-ups
Stretch
On the way to shoot Bow
We are in the under 40 day countdown velvet coming off in two weeks🤙

Day 16
These back to back days on revolving stairs is a grind but so is elk hunting👍
Went 70 minutes today 296 floors in 60 over 7 miles uphill that should do it.
3 sets of low weight on leg sled hammy curls left leg a good stretch and time for about the end of my backstrap😎

Day17
50 minute total body workout and stretch another day closer👍

Day 18 a grind today but got 160 floors on the revolving stairs with intervals 1-3 minutes 10-12.. stretch and set of pull-ups and pushups👍On the home stretch before seaso. Have to remember stupid days where I did something like this to not overdo something now as this would fup the entire season👎 Remind myself avoid injuries this time Of year😎

If you like to sweat the revolving stairs will do it👍

Hunted with a lot of good guys through the decades had the pleasure of calling this nidaho bull in for my buddy Brian on a frosty September morning in the jungles👊They were screaming on 9/10 as I recall🤙We were talking to two other bulls across the canyons n working our way in bugling and the next thing we know this guys screams at 50ish yards. We got the arrows out he came in quick looking for a fight and Brian made the shot at about 17 yrs👌

I guess I did not drink this not enough wine last night. 282 floors in 60 minutes but did increase duration👍

70 arrows and repeat tomorrow trying for 400 floors tomorrow aim for the highest mountain👊
Continuing on friends theme. Redford his code name always a great guy in camp and one who loves the adventure. Made a great shot on this nwest Montana bull should be seeing him this fall in November.

I'm 54 also and proud of it . My training is slightly different but aiming for the same goal . I have a renewed appreciation for being able to do what I do and have the privilege of the outdoors . Great post and keep it up the season is upon us .

Well done Ross, don't think it ever gets any easier, just don't hurt as much if we prepare well.

I'm version 5.4 tomorrow and wont be back in the Elk woods until the end of August next year, but it motivates me to stay in shape.
I'll be looking out for your pics.

Wanted 400 floors under 90 minutes and made it with just over 5 min to go🤙
An hour 24.50 is a long time on that stupid machine.
This throw back bull was a great season and frustrating at times he was as I recall bull number 15 inside of 25 yds in the jungles with no shots. Second to last day called in another one that morning still no shot. Staying positive humped into another canyon with three bulls going good. Got in close to this herd bull and he pushed his herd. For two hours I dogged him in a screaming match. Finally I split his cows and he came in hard screaming at 14 yds and finally had a shot👊Otc hunting at its finest 30 days👌

Day 24
40 arrows
45 minute total body workout was about it today

Day 25 sweat fest👍
35 stairs 184 floors
10 on treadmill 15 incline
5 step ups
Big stretch and some broad head shooting. We are under 30 days👊
The full story on this idaho herd bull was epic otc bulls can be called in but you sometimes you need to be balls to the walls to get it done🤙

Day 26
Total body workout

Light day at lunch for 30 minutes and a good stretch time to go shoot some arrows
Can't believe in 28 days will be chasing some of these Idaho brutes🤙
I ended up shooting the bull with the cows in rifle sesson at ten yards as he parted the jungle and have a heavy shed from the muddy bull bring it on👊

Remember this encounter like it was yesterday. Ths guy was screaming his lungs off at daybreak. My buddy Brian was with me again and asked can you call this guy what a silly question. We closed to about 70 yds bugled twice over my shoulder and in he came screaming all the way to 12 yds👊Thinking about these days helps get the grind over! I always tell Brian he is my lucky charm as he has been on the same hillside with me to help on a lot of bulls gotta keep good friends close👍
