So last summer I injured myself on a long run, and had a lot of pain along the outside edge of my foot from mid foot to mid heel. I also noticed immediately after the run that when I moved my foot to bring it towards my knee that there was a pop on the side of my ankle and I could see a tendon moving. I tried rest for more than a month, and when I didn't get much relief I went to foot specialist and had the xrays and MRI done. The Doc said there was not a tear but there was severe tendinitis in the peroneal tendon and subluxation that likely contributed to it. She prescribed some strong anti-inflammatory meds and sent me to physical therapy, but I don't think the therapy did much for me. I managed to do limited training and make my hunt last year but the pain was there. After whittail season I took it easy and did minimal activities to rest it and I have less pain now than last fall when I went on a hunt. However, I am trying to ramp up training this summer but the pain returns after light/moderate running maybe a mile.

Has anyone had a this condition and did you find anything that helped? There is a surgery for the subluxation but it requires a few months of recovery in a boot. I am not ready to go down that route. Did you have physical therapy that helped? I suspect the therapy clinic I used was sub-par after talking with some others that went there for other injuries.
