Can anyone recommend a tripod panhead for a stout set of 10x42s with a top budget of $50?

I had a Benro S2 bought on ebay for $50 but it's looking like a scam.

Now I have been looking at Promaster 5160 from SandSarchery.com and all the low end ones on BHPhotoVideo.

Don't want to break the bank, but I don't want garbage. I'd appreciate hearing anyone's experiences.

EDIT - also - do I want a fluid, video, or pan and tilt head? I don't know the difference

I would watch for a used Manfrotto 700RC2. Great head. Sells new for $80-$100 but both my friend and I were able to snag a couple on eBay that are in great shape for $50. Used mine with 15x56s and an 82mm spotter and it worked great.

I recently got a Schonfeld pan head. It's got a large knob on the side for adjustments. Seems like it would be plenty adequate for 10x42's. I've been running my 65mm spotter on it.

Also, the Schonfeld I mentioned above is right around $40 new. I haven't used it extensively but seems nice and smooth. I've yet to put it through its paces though. Just wanted to throw it out there.

machinethomas - I just ordered the schonfeld tripod! 1.8lbs pretty excited about it. I read one review about the schonfeld plate on the panhead having a little slop in it - do you notice that?

The only thing I've noticed is the plate seems like it wants to wiggle a little. I just got the small carbon legs as well. Seems like a solid little set up for the money. I'm really impressed with the legs, and the head seems good for the money. You'll have to update with your thoughts.

I checked out a manfrotto 700 at sportsman's yesterday and my impression is that thing is big! The handle is huge, I would want to cut it down
