Designed for performance, with elegance in mind, the 8x42 Frontier ED Binocular from Hawke is right along with the forerunners in the field. The optics feature exemplary high-performance Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass to deliver crisp, true-color images of breathtaking landscapes, vistas, or cityscapes. With the fully multi-coated optics and high-resolution (Hi-Res) phase-coated BAK4 roof prisms, you will get excellent visual transparency of the optical glass, along with high-resolution, high-contrast images. The 42mm objectives perform well in most lighting conditions, from an early morning until night. And whether you focus on a close-up or faraway scenery, you can count on the wide 65° apparent angle of view to deliver a sizeable edge-to-edge field. Beyond optical highlights, the binocular provides a convenient center focusing and a diopter ring on the right tube, generous interpupillary range, and a short 6.6' minimum focus distance.

With its ultra-lightweight and durable magnesium housing, you do not have to worry about accidentally exposing the binocular to moisture or even dropping it into a water reservoir because it is nitrogen-filled to be water and fogproof. The body features an aesthetically-appealing and ergonomic design with closed bridge configuration. Its rubber armoring offers a secure hold and a pleasant handling experience. To help you with focusing and correcting for dioptric differences, the oversized focus knob and the diopter ring are knurled and can be easily adjustable even when wearing gloves. To accommodate anyone with a comfortable viewing position, the rubber eyecups feature a twist-out click-stop type. Also included are a strap, lens cloth, carry case, and protective lens caps.

That was fast, they already came and I'm impressed with the quality of these. They are on par with my Vortex Talon HD's.

Glad you like them. Hawke has some great products but a horrible marketing dept so nobody knows how good they really are

Gr8fuldoug, What are the major differences between this binocular and their Saphire bino?

Would either of these compare to the Zen Ray Prime ED as far as view goes?

The Sapphire ED is a superior optic to the Frontier ED, more on par optically with the Zen-Ray Prime ED
