I only run swaro slc's 10x42's for everything! Especially mule deer/elk, I can tell with those if the animal is worth pursuing. I'm not a long range shooter so i need to get within 400 yards anyways. Only time I bring the spotter is on my sheep and goat hunts. Goats I find so hard to judge. I never run a tripod with my bino's, cause I don't like packing the thing around without my spotter. That's what works for me where I hunt, everyone is different.
