I'm new to all this and just got a 700rc2 in. I need to know what tripod I need to get that's compatible with it. Thanks.

All tripods should be able to thread on that tripod head. Might need a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter worse case. What are you planning to run on it?

Canon hf g40. The tripod I had before this is an old vanguard with a built in plastic head on it from the way it looks and can't be taken apart

Most mid grade tripods will have a removable head so you'll be able to remove and replace. Sorry I don't have a recommendation will you be packing in because wieght will matter. You want to use it standing or just sitting? What's your budget? I have some slilk legs that are aluminum I use when I might glass standing which is usually in the snow and close to the Jeep. A shorter carbon tripod for when I'm packing it some where but I have to sit to use it which I actually prefer expect in the snow.

I will be standing and setting both as I intended to use it for spring turkey season too. As far as budget I'm not sure nothing to crazy but I also didn't realize that tripods could be worth 1000$

I'd guess that tripods has 1/4 20 threads what does your head have? If you ordered new I'd guess it might come with a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter if not they are only a couple bucks.
