so I bought this thing 5 years ago,,,,been rode hard and abused,,,but decent camera for what it is,,,,

but now it won't turn on,,,,it started too, said "remove lens" (lens cap was already off) and now won't power up,,,won't even pretend to try
I've swapped out batteries three times,,,all nice batteries (duracell coppertops and then Alkaline extremes)
any ideas before I trash it and move on to a different one?
