Does anyone have experience between the first generation Canon 70-200 f2.8 vs the second Generation Tamron 70-200 f2.8?

I‘ve never tried the cannon (Nikon shooter), but really enjoyed using my brother in-law’s Tamron 70-200 2.8. Really fast and snappy focus and good bokeh. Great stabilization.

Used it to shoot some informal family wedding shots for my niece while they were busy with the real photographers.

Also walked around the property and found a damselfly to shoot.

The new G2 Tamron blows away the first generation Canon and is every bit as good as Gen 2. Tamron has added similar coatings that Canon uses on the L lenses plus a new coating that fights moisture. The glass is tack sharp and the 6 year warranty is a bonus. Also you save a lot of money in the process.
