I quit doing calling contests a few years ago but decided to give it another shot last weekend for the West Texas Big Bobcat Contest since the 1st place payout was around $50k. 1st place goes to the heaviest cat but to qualify your cat you had to kill either 5 fox or 5 coyotes. Usually, 5 fox is easy-peasy around here. So, when we had a cat over 30 pounds down by 9pm, we got pretty excited. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a shot at a single fox until 3:30am; and we couldn’t find the one coyote we shot. Had a banner night of cat hunting, though. 4 bobcat in one night is a good night of calling, in my book!

One of my buddies looking like a cat hunting rockstar! Lol!

Thanks guys! We have a lot of them here in South Texas. Lots of coyotes also. I sure miss the wide open spaces, though, where you can see things coming in from a long way. All of these cats were inside 50yds and that’s pretty typical around here in the brush country. Makes it a shotgunner’s paradise. Lol.
