I make custom knives. I have a proven elk skinner that is the result of 25 years of hunting and skinning elk. It is a thick 1/4 " D2 blade that is heat treated and cryoed to 60.5 Rockwell hardness by Bos Heat Treating in Idaho (best in the business). It is a convex grind and comes with a unique, custom leather sheath. Thes have ironwood handles. Everything is USA made and done freehand. I have used this drop point type design for the past 5 years and the combination is amazing.

I also make a lot of fillet knives as well as a tactical knife for military/LEO.
All you will need is a leather field strop to sharpen the edge to keep this knife sharp and I sell those for 25.00.
I boned out 4 Elk last year without sharpening my knife.
