July 4th weekend backpacking trip in CA close(ish) to the Bay Area

Anyone up for a backpacking trip in just about any huntable land within 5-6 hours of the San Jose? I'm a complete rookie, I've hunted (never successful, just bow hiked) a bunch of times but have never been on a multiday backpacking trip. I want to use the long weekend to get out and learn about my gear, myself, the wilderness, and do some scouting for this years season. I'm kind of partial to doing this in Mendocino NF but am open to other places.
