    The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

Same question for me. Changed the thread name the other day, and now it's moved. I don't get it.

What’s does your fitness routine look like to get in(and stay in) elk hunting shape?

Another vote for MTN Tough. I had already lost 30 pounds going into starting the program. I had been biking, doing some kettlebell workouts, and rucking with a 50-70# pack. I thought I was in respectable shape but wanted to crank it up a notch. I was humbled very quickly. Honestly probably the...

Bad Experience - Great Falls MT

Wow you got hosed! I just vacuum packaged mine up and had at least 10 bags of loin cut in 6 to 8" chunks!

    Iron Will Broadheads

Shot mine this year with a IW Solid 100. Zipped through like hot butter. Bull made it 42 yards and expired. I can see why one might make an argument for a larger cutting diameter, but if you put about any sharp modern broadhead through the triangle, good things usually happen quickly. Easy to...

@coop22250 ; where do you think it goes from here? What's your exit strategy?! I'm in it, not a ton, but what are you hearing?

    Cooler Advice For Elk

Shot a nice 6 point bull this year. Boned out meat fit nicely in a coleman 120 and 100 quart coolers with barely enough room for ice. I put the loins in a different cooler because I had one, but didn't need to. I think if you had around 220 to 250 quarts of capacity it would be just right.

Best flying broadheads on the market

I'm going to leave the bow tuning discussion out of this as it should be fairly obvious that the base point is a well tuned bow and regardless of regulations or your feelings on fixed vs. mechanicals. 1. Mechanicals are generally going to fly great and better than anything else. My pick would...

    2021 - Weight Loss/Way in Thread

This year I hit 295+ in February at 34 years old. Heaviest I’ve ever been. I had an extensive surgery in 2019 and used that as an excuse not to get in shape the rest of 19, went on a great elk hunt fairly out of shape. Then into the Covid however many pounds. Decided to make a change this year...

How long does it take to break down an elk in the field?

First bull, first time, we were right at 45 minutes from tag on to meat in bags, in a good spot. 2 guys running knives and a 3rd holding legs and helping with holding the game bags. We were not caping for a mount, and we did the gutless method. Tenderloins took a little longer to get out without...

    Favorite audio books?

Vince Flynn stuff is great. On that same line, Jack Carr has a good one as well. "Terminal List" However, I've never had as many people blown away as I have from my audiobook recommendation of "Endurance" By Alfred Lansing. It's the story of Shackleton's doomed antarctic journey. Trapped in sea...

WTT or WTS HHA Optimizer Kingpin XL5519 for Option 6

Potentially looking to sell my HHA Optimizer Lite Kingpin (KP-XL 5519). Paid $350 new, used 1 year. Includes all sight tapes but the two I've used, and the calibration wheel. I've used it one year, just want to go with a different style. Sight is in "like new" condition. Plus an elk and a nice...

Thinking about jumping into the trad world

Thanks for the input so far guys. I live in Iowa, and only one I know of is Barefoot Traditions down in Des Moines. I just haven't had the time to get down there and check it out. I've heard good things about it, and I've met the guy coincidentally out elk hunting in Idaho. I am shooting 74# on...

Thinking about jumping into the trad world

So, I've been debating jumping into the trad world for some time now. I really like the "looks" of R/D longbows as opposed to recurves. With today's new longbows, is there really any disadvantage to those vs. a recurve? I've shot a longbow and a hoyt target recurve, but they were years apart...

    2018 Hoyt - thoughts?

Shot the new RX-1 yesterday on my lunch break. I currently have a Carbon Element RKT. The only thing I really dislike about my CE is the cams wanting to take off because of the lack of valley. They appear to have fixed this with this model and it was a really sweet shooter. I held it for a long...
