    “Do-it-all” Pad Advice

I've used multiple pads in the 3-4.5 R-value range over the past few years. I always got cold. This year i switched to an X-therm and I'll never use my old pads again - except for summer camping. It was the most comfortable I've ever slept on the mountain.

    Seek Outside 16 man tipi

I also have a kifaru 12 man. It’s a great shelter. It’s much lighter than the alternatives. Plus you have the option to add a stove or not depending on the time of year you’re using it. Footprint size is one of the only downfalls I can think of. We were up in alaska fishing last year and in...

    Floorless Vs. Floor

we took a 12 man tipi (no stove) last year to the brooks range. ground was extremely soft so sand/snow stakes or something bigger than the regular ones provided were a must. there is little to no wood around so i wouldn't bother with a stove - plus it wasn't cold enough when we were there to...

    POW Blacktail gear question

Based on my one trip there I’d be surprised if you will be staying in a cabin and climbing up to and from the alpine every day. The areas we hunted would be impossible to go up and back in a day. And even if you could, you wouldn’t want to. Way too physically demanding and took too long to do...

    What week?

We went with BRA in 2019 in early August. Took a tipi and had concerns about ripping wind but the tipi was solid. There were plenty of rocks around to peg the stakes down. Definitely wouldn’t be worth taking a stove. There was no wood larger than a pencil anywhere we hiked around. I also Seem...
