I was at a taxidermist in WY last week and they were prepping a bunch of goats for euro mounts and one was sitting there that had a deformed face. I thought it was just deformed from birth but they told me that’s what happens when you about them in the face. It was crazy looking.
Drawing type 1 second choice units got ridiculous this year. There were plenty of -1 tags that went to the leftover draw in 2018 that sold out in the first round this year.
Boy, hunting or no hunting there sure are some seriously jealous people out there. I don’t care if I’m spending $1 or $20k, I’m told by someone they are going to provide a certain level of service for my money I expect that level. He had an expectation set by what was supposed to be a very...
Until he throws them some cash to get back on the list. I have 1 guided elk hunt lined up and it will likely be my last. I really enjoy the DIY. I’ll never criticize anyone for what they spend on what they like.
It’s been a few years but in some disputes between hunters and landowners the G&F were using OnX on GPS to resolve if there was trespassing. It’s not uncommon for some outfitters to over state what is private land and attempt to push off hunters on public land.
Antelope definitely prefer to not jump fences. Will they do it? Of course. But not nearly as easily or quickly as deer. I have seen them do it, but 99% of the time they prefer to put distance between you and them by running down the fence line. If that doesn’t work, then under is their next...
Very high likelihood of fencing. Equally high likelihood it is NOT an accurate representation of the public/private border. Unfortunately the burden is on is to know if we are not trespassing. OnX has been helpful with that and last I heard, WY G&F uses it to determine borders.
Yes...to answer your questions. Historical points required can help plan for future hunts. 2019 was an anomaly from previous years. Many units that could be drawn on 100% odds as a second choice were now not 100% as a first choice. It’s supply and demand. The state sets the supply and the points...
If you’re scouting and planning on coming back, I would put up some trail cams in places like this. If not this year, early next year. That will tell you a lot.
The availability of tags and animals is going to make antelope in WY tough for the next few years. People have realized they can drive 15-20hours, hunt for 48-72 hours and come home with multiple animals for less than $1000. I love these forums and FB but I hate to admit they are giving people...
