Anybody know if the new Hamskea Trinity Hunter Pro will fit on a Halon 5?
I know the original Hunter Pro couldn't back in the day.
If you figured out a solution, post a pic showing how you mounted it to clear the cables.
Thanks.
I hear you — and that's what I was assuming. Thanks.
For the past few years, my outer layers are uncomphagre vest + jacket then north branch to cut down on the wind — all that on top of multiple layers of wool and thermals. It doesn't get crazy cold often, but when it does, our famous humidity...
So, any experience directly comparing the following jackets? bulk? heat? wind? noise?
FirstLite Solitude
FirstLite Sanctuary
Sitka Stratus
Kifaru Lost Parka
I'm in southern Louisiana.
December/January can start in the low-20's at sunrise and climb as high as the high-70's by noon. With that kind of a swing, layering is a crazy puzzle. Granted those are extremes. Winter temps can swing 20-40 degrees throughout the day. Our average winter day levels...
Around here, late season temps swing wildly. I carry a range of layers depending on the forecast (merino, fleece, ultralight puffy(s), soft shell, rain shell) and adjust up/down as needed. My pack-in before sunrise can be a couple miles. Once in the stand, I’m there until sundown.
Pro: variable...
Four years ago I called Aron at KIFARU in search of the "one bag to rule them all" for any hunt I could conjure up. I anticipated adventures from a single day pack to 14+ expedition—from chasing trout with a fly rod to hunting whitetail, elk. moose or grizzlies. In many circles, the EMR II still...
Thanks. The Spartans are past the point of return, so they're here to stay — for this season anyhow.
Bow specs are...
- 28" draw
- 73#
- 271 fps with 509 gr arrows (353 IBO)
My options are:
1. leave as is and merely hone the arrow tune (nock and fletch config)
2. go heavier — cut longer...
According to this pro, one key indicator that of a wrong helical is the arrows will naturally drift to one side to the next.
My groups have always drifted to the left and had to compensate with the site/rest — most noticeable beyond 60 yards.
The theory does make sense. To his point, if the...
Listening to a pro talk fletchings — spoke of testing the natural rotation on a bare shaft arrow, then match your natural rotation to the helical. Is there any merit to this or is this just the stuff that separates the pro's from the rest of us?
LOL -- 30 yds, jittery-crackhead deer, public land... yep, we're hunting the same place(s).
I'm zeroed out to 30y before I have to adjust my pin.
Considered going lighter to see if I could push that out to 40.
Harder hitting (heavier) or faster?
It's time to buy/build more arrows, so I'm re-evaluating my system.
Current setup: Black Eagle Spartan 250, 27.75", 30gr insert, 125gr broadhead = 509 gr
Admittedly, that's a lot of punch for the average southern whitetail.
Should I cut weight to maximize...
