curious as well, I have the Makra Combi and love the way they fit but the seam on the side of the boot came apart on both feet and are no longer water proof. I put shoe goo on them last year and would get about a week before that split. currently have aqua seal on them to see if that works...
my browning xbolt 6.5prc shoots the factory 147 ELDM extremely well, around Eastern Oregon I can get them for $45.99 a box. I only have a sample size of one so far, 4pt mule deer 398 yards he did not take one step. cartridge size entrance and golf ball size exit shot in the crease of the...
I know a few people who have been up there since 1st season (still are), I sent your post to them to see if they have heard anything. That’s a very high traffic corner were the gun was left. If you’re buddy hasn’t already done it make sure he contacts the morrow county sheriff.
I might try that on a pair of boots that are getting a little tight. I am very diligent about cleaning my boots and not putting them in front of heat sources but after 4 years I accidentally left my boots in my 5th wheel across from one of the heater vents. even though they were about 4 feet...
Anyone use cedar boot trees in their hunting boots to keep them from shrinking? What about boot stretching devices when the toe box has already shrunk?
I’ve done a couple elk, a couple mule deer and a mt lion myself. It’s definitely not something I enjoy doing but I can’t convince myself to pay someone else to do a job I can do. Plus I can have it done in one day vs waiting for a taxidermist to do it.
I bought mine in august 2022 when they started their second production of the knife. I ordered the cork from custom fly grips. Sndmn11 posted the link where he got the cork from in post #70 of this thread
Did the gutless method on a 5pt bull this year with the ridge belt knife. after receiving the knife (2nd batch) the only work I did with the blade was run it across a ceramic rod and a leather strop. I was able to complete the process of breaking down the bull with only cleaning the blood and...
Because I have a much higher chance of getting searched while pulling my RV across the border, it’s a much easier conversation to be up front and honest vs telling them no and getting searched and having to try to explain to them why I lied.
I crossed into BC at Blaine/Surrey while pulling my RV and the agent ask if I had any weapons, I told him I had my pocket knife. He didn't want to see it and didn't seem to care I had it, but he did ask me if I had firearms at home and wanted to know what type (pistols vs rifle's) it shocked me...
We drew as expected, my son and I got archery deer and elk tags and my daughter drew a rifle buck tag and a rifle spike elk tag. With the new regulations on East side Oregon archery being draw hunts it is getting more difficult to bank points and still draw tags. It's not impossible but you...
I went through a similar shopping process, I bought an X bolt western hunter 6.5 prc. Take a look at M Carbo and get there $15 trigger sear spring, it makes a big difference in the trigger. Also take a look at redhawk rifles demo riflescopes. I bought a 4-16 ziess at a large discount.
I hunted it 3 years ago for archery elk, had a archery deer tag too. Hunted 18 days and only saw a few bucks. I shot a small 3 pt which was the best buck I saw. My buddy runs quite a few trail cameras up there and he has a couple good bucks on cameras but again very few.
The overall deer herd in mt emily is severely low. You will run into a couple issues with the late rut hunt in that unit. 1st will be access if the snow starts flying. If you have a capable vehicle, chains, winch, and maybe a four wheeler or side by side you will be ok. 2nd is finding a decent...
I found a couple of pictures for reference, you can see that with snow on the ground the water bottle is not frozen, also note the DampRid canister on top to collect moisture.
