YETI down sleeping bag at Sierra Trading Post

So this is about a 30 degree bag and almost 2 and a half pounds for a down bag? Doesn’t sound that great.

    Cleaning a Packraft

I believe alpacka says not to use it because if you need to patch the boat it interferes with the strength of the bond.

Your longest pack out by foot?

Pack it in, pack it out. Everyone's responsibility.

    Fly Fishing Waders

You all with Simms zipper waders don’t have issues with them leaking at the zipper? Buddy got a pair of them a few years ago and they leaked from the get go. Stupidest thing ever if they leak.

Tripod Comparison: Slik 634 vs Sirui T-024 vs Sirui 7C

What type of spotter have you used with that tripod head? Does it handle the weight fine? Any drop with it when you tighten it in place? I'm trying to find a very light option for a 65 mm spotter that you don't have to worry about the flop issue you mention as much.

    Heavy duty vacuum seal bags

I started using the Scheels vacuum bags. Price is good and so far they are holding up well , but my sample size is small so far.

    Unconfirmed Rumors of SLC Discontinuation

I think the EL line is far more popular overall. Few birders use the slc.

    $500 off Swaro EL

They got rid of the close focusing of the el's with the drop in price going forward, just like they did with the slc. Probably not a big deal to most but something to be aware of. Pick up el's now if you want close focusing before all you can find is the newest model that won't have it.

    'Magic bus' removed.

No. They used a replica and it’s on display at the 49th state brewery in Healy. A lot of the movie footage is not like what the area actually looks like.

    Alpacka Raft System

Anyone have the Mule? Seems like a good compromise of size and weight for a solo paddler and appears to be able to carry a fair amount of weight.

    Alpacka Raft System

How well does the forager paddle solo if it's not weighed down? Can you use a kayak paddle?

    Tiger King

I think it was 19% of the votes for the Libertarian Party, so very small percentage overall.

Are DIY Dehydrated Meals Worth it?

What kind of heat reflective stand up vacuum bags do you get? I don't think I've ever seen those.

    Contact Wearers

I bring a little bottle of hand sanitizer along and use that before putting in or taking out my contacts. I haven't had problems even if my fingers are a little dirty otherwise. I have definitely forgotten the contacts in the pack and have had them freeze inside the case but they thaw out in...

    Kodiak Island goat hunting-boat based

Agree with AK Troutbum. If you are in excellent shape it is possible to get an early start, kill a goat in the afternoon/evening and get it packed out the next day, but take your time and try to find a billy. Half the fun of goat hunting anyway is being up high, trying to find a billy and...

    The wilderness miracle?

I definitely get in the zone, especially when packing out game where I just go and go until the job is done or I need to catch some sleep and get at it again the next day. I don't think about it until I'm done. Had one hunt that I shuttled caribou loads and camp for over 2 full days from early...
