Kind of a late reply, but I’ve worn my Chota’s with Simm’s G3 boots on a fall bear and a caribou hunt now. If you’re planning on breaking bush, I put gators over them. They’ve held up great. I like them better than my Simm’s wading pants in that they are a lot cooler when hiking. Only downside...
Not sure if you landed on something yet, but I got a Fierce CT Edge in 300WM this spring and l love it. I’ve shot it out to 1000yrds no problem with a VX-5HD 3-15x44. Shoots 1/2 groups with factory Hornaday Precision Hunter 200gr EDL-X’s. I haven’t weighed it, but it’s pretty dang light...
Another vote for Slogan. I own 4 of them for various guns. Rubber is great when you’re 100% guaranteed to get rained on. Doesn’t slide off your shoulder. Carry gun backpack style.
You do have the stretch them out to break them in. Otherwise you will see them slack over time a bit. Just...
I ran the SG gun sling and pack on my bear hunt last May. Carried the rifle/pack about 80 miles over 11 days. The rifle did rub a bit on the stock where it hangs down by the waist belt. I wrapped my stock in camp tape to keep it from rubbing the finish off.
All in all it works great. Gun...
I wouldn’t consider retiring in Alaska. It’s too expensive and too cold. Don’t get me wrong, I love it here, but things are just tougher living here.
Anything on the road system is going to mean too many people. Sure you can get out to Glennallen, Tok, Healy, etc, but then you’re too far...
Good article.
The article says you can use any Remington 700 bases. It my understanding that they are not compatible, and you must use the Tally or Murphy Precision bases.
I just picked up a CT Edge in .300 Win. Just got the scope mounted. Can’t wait to see how it shoots.

Proper fitting shoes it totally key. Getting insoles that match your gait really help too. I tend to not realize how worn out shoes are getting because although the may look clean on the outside, the soles may be worn out and not providing proper support. I’ve learned this lesson the hard...
Here’s my custom 1911. Caspian slide and frame. Shoots like a dream. All top of the line parts, too many to list or remember for that matter.

I personally go with my Simms G3 wading pants and HH Impertech coat. The problem with goretex and anything else is that you might never get a chance to dry it out. Impertech will never soak through. I think chest waders are overkill.
Also not sure where you’ll be hunting out of Bethel, but...
I’ve been lurking on here for well over a year, and just registered and posted my first reply the other day. I realized I never introduced myself.
I’ve been hunting all my life, but admittedly I still feel like a FNG. I’ve always love getting out in the field, but never got out as much as I’d...
I totally agree with your comments on the Kahr’s. Their triggers just never did it for me. Well made firearms, but just didn’t fit my style. YMMV

I would go option C. I have the older version of the Geovids and they’re awesome. Is Swaro glass better? Probably, but not worth the price difference when you find the Leicas on sale, which they are quite often.

G43 all the way. I’ve owned or shot just about every compact pistol out there. The only other I would consider is the Sig 938. Just cause it’s sexy.
