Mississippi River Northern Illinois public land hunting

Does anyone have any experience hunting the state parks along the Mississippi River (Illinois side)? I was talking to a guy who said he hunted those parks pack in the 80s and early 90s and you could only get to them by boat. He said they had tremendous luck and would set up a base camp along...

What do you do with your venison?

Wondering what folks do with their venison. I grind most into sausage except the rear loins, back straps, and tenderloins. Cold smoke for 10 days and air dry for 4-6 weeks. I've heard from friends is the best meat they've ever had. Anyone else doing anything similar? Id like to dehydrate...

Wood burning stove for Alaknak 12X20

Looking to purchase a stove capable of heating a 12X20 Alaknak tent with 4 guys in in. I like the 4 dogs but am open to whatever anyone is selling. Located in northern Illinois but I dont mind driving to pickup if it's a reasonable distance from me.
