Scott Haugen's book was awesome, big help already. Used a bunch of his tips on my trail cam locations and found some really nice bucks already. Is it August yet?
What's the best technique for hunting/scouting thick timber bucks in Western Oregon/N. Cascades. I live in the Santiam unit and have been scouting/hunting mostly in the Mt Hood National Forest. Most of the books I've read about deer hunting focus on white tail and I know that the behavior of...
Hunting Oregon for the first time this year. Going to try my luck in the White River WMU, I hear it gets super crowded but I have Mondays/Tuesdays off so hopefully I can escape the weekend crowds. Grew up hunting in FL/GA so I'm looking forward to tagging my first Oregon gobbler
Extremely humbling, last year was my first real year hunting out here and after the season I realized not only did I pretty much waste $350 on some slick Vortex optics but I that I was never really even hunting, just hiking around with a rifle. Doing my homework this year with trail cams though...
Agreed that KUIU runs a little tight. I usually wear a L but ordered an XL in the guide jacket after reading reviews, it's pretty snug on the arms and chest and the sleeves are about 4 inches too long, I'd be afraid to go XXL and have the sleeves be even longer. Love the jacket though, perfect...
You have to them a waist size bigger if you have big legs. I'm a 34/30 and I wear either a 36 or 38/30 in EB depending on the style of pants. I just wear a belt and have never had any issues with the waist bunching up or anything.
Agreed 100%, the Eddie Bauer Travex pants are great too. The Eddie Bauer 4-way stretch material is amazingly durable for how lightweight and comfortable it is, plus the come with a lifetime warrantee so if you rip them EB replaces them.
I agree with the KUIU attack pants, their so comfortable and if you have thick legs the 4-way stretch is amazing. The can be a little on the warmer side but for something cooler I would recommend the Eddie Bauer Travex pants; they're so lightweight and comfortable and they come with a lifetime...
Hi guys, I grew up hunting whitetail in upstate New York and Florida/Georgia. Moved out here to Oregon a few years ago after I got out of the Army. Got sick of Portland and now I'm living on a Forest Service compound where I work out in the Mt Hood National Forest. Learning to bowhunt blacktails...
