    Kitchen renovation appliances

I went with the down draft as an overhead wasn't practical and expensive. Don't really use the thing much anyway as anything I cook that would need it I do on the grill outside.

    Pre-Post retirement Budgeting

Don't underestimate insurance costs. My in-laws ending up paying >$2K/month to bridge the gap between retirement and medicare. I've known a few people that put off retirement because of insurance cost. Can't believe we've come to a place where private insurance costs more than most house payments.

    Pre-Post retirement Budgeting

All this talk about retirement has me dreaming. Working towards pulling the plug in 3.5 yrs at 60. My challenge is talking my wife into me retiring. She has a job she loves and will qualify for full pension in 11 years (Salary for life). Even if she partial qualifies (6 more years) we will...

Frequency of muscle groups at 66 years old

My experience at 56. I find I have to rest muscle groups for 2 days as my body just won't recover on a 1 day rest. I also find i'm okay with 3 days off but start to fall off on strength if I go 4 or more. Currently do legs one day (squat and deadlift) and upper the next. Each day is followed...

    Dry January

Doing dryish. No drinking at home on weekdays. Will have some if I'm at a business function in the evenings and some on the weekends. I've never been a good quitter. Definately notice difference in sleep quality. Hoping to make it a lifestyle and not just a January thing.

    Money or Happiness

Have been in a similar boat at different times in my career. Always made good money and often didn't much like my job. I have learned to make the 60ish waking hours I have outside of work in a week a bigger focus than the 40-50 I spend at work. I was often guilty of letting the work hours...

    So I got a smoker

I have a 700. Won't smoke much over 225 degrees or so. Smoker tube solved the issue. Really more like an oven at higher temperatures.

    Best interior barn door kit?

Another thing which was already mentioned. These things are heavy you want to mount the hardware to studs or solid wood. Header boards work but it does potentially push the door out further from the wall then desired. Can wrap the entire door frame in trim the same size to mitigate.

    Best interior barn door kit?

I've built a few of them and the biggest PITA is getting the length right. I've had to take a belt sander to the bottom to take off a bit. Probably an easy way to do it but haven't figured it out yet. Also if doing a bypass instead of a single door make sure the depth of the door works for...

    Replacing Battery on Inreach SE

Wanted to give an update for $35 decided to try a new battery. I bought the replacement kit off of Amazon as I didn't have the right tool to remove the screws to get to the battery. Watched a youtube video before I started on how to do it. Was pretty easy although unseating the battery was a...

    Replacing Battery on Inreach SE

Has anyone replaced battery on the Garmin Inreach SE+? Mine won't charge. Batteries on line are pretty cheap but the Garmin website says could be multiple different causes. I bought a Mini for this fall but don't like it as well as my old eyes can't read the screen without packing my...
