I've seen a couple references to the fact that there are differences in dall sheep horns and genetics across the various mountain ranges they inhabit.
Can anyone give a brief rundown of what those are, or a good reference for details about horn configurations? I'm looking to start contacting a...
If you only get to pick one, I'd definitely lean toward the second choice. I do not like spotting from below. However, with that east facing slope, in the morning, expect very short periods of deer being up and around before the sun hits them and they head to bed.
Go to the following website and look at the "drawn out at" document. You should be able to look through and find a few units that went all the way to leftovers.

Deer Hunting Statistics
Colorado gets my vote. Not known for the giant rams like places in MT, but quite a few sheep in lots of different units. If you are willing to do archery, as a resident, the draw odds are pretty decent once you gain the required 3 preference points. Now with the change to not requiring fees...
I haven't hunted any of those specific units, but I'll give my ounce of info about related units. I hunted right next to 471 twice and it has gotten worse in the couple times we hunted. More hikers/hunters and fewer deer, and the deer that we saw were not anything big.
Also, by end of October...
IMO, cyber scouting is really good for checking out access, glassing points, etc. It's best to try to identify several spots that you can get into and glass from. Much of the high country mule deer country looks very similar, but you might check 5 different drainages and only find bucks in 1 or...
Good luck on your hunt, our group is headed to region G for the first time as well. Sorry I don't have much specific info on the area. In other areas I've hunted early season mule deer, lakes are popular with other recreationalists (hikers, fishermen, etc.). So I don't think the deer will be...
Possibly interested in your savage/shaw 7mm08, how does it shoot with factory ammo? I'm not a reloader and don't plan to start anytime soon.
Thanks!

Thanks for the summary! The vanguard had been at the top of my purchase list, but I was wondering if I was missing something by not further exploring other options. It sounds like I have more looking to do.
Thanks Randy, great stuff! I have a tough time devoting 30-60 mins to a daily tv show between work and family. But I really enjoy listening/watching your semi-live hunts at lunch or on the way to/from work on my phone.
They're pretty nice shorts. I picked up another pair today @50% off after buying one pair and wearing them a few times. They're especially nice because they do double duty as a hunting/hiking short and you can also wear them around town no problem.
I'll preface my comments with noting that I've never actually hunted Colorado, but I was in your position for the past couple years and pending the drawing results I hope to be chasing mule deer in Colorado this fall.
I think that any given unit in Colorado has the potential to be good (it...
