    Magnum primers needed

I just got some standard LRPs at the local Scheels. I was on a call list with the reloading manager. That was the 1st batch that came in over a year. I caught a brick of mags at Cabelas prior to that (probably over a year ago).

    2023 Whitetail Meat Pole

Got lucky over the weekend: 35 yards with my ol 77/44. 240 gr XTP over Blue Dot in Starline brass, WW primer (been using that same load for 25+ years). My cousin got lucky as well: 1187 12 ga. for him. A friend of ours got really lucky with a double back-scratcher! TRS

Let's See Your Semi-Custom Tikka Builds

Barrel break in on the ol '06 over the weekend... 1st 5 shots out of this rig, 4 inside 3/4". The flier was old man/operator error.

    6.5 creed vs 30-06

I'm going to be playing with Hunter powder in my Tikka as soon as it warms up, going to try a few different bullets. I have high hopes for the 178s, they're a lot less expensive than Berger 190 hunters.

    338 Federal Loads

I haven't played with it in a while, but I seem to remember having good accuracy with 200 gr Hornady Interlocks & H4895.

22-250 and 60gr tipped match king

My 1:14 Tikka won't digest anything over 55, I wish the 1:8's were available when I bought mine.

30-06 limitations or does it not have the “cool factor”

My buddy has a similar "battle-scar" from his Savage '06! ;) 1st time he shot it with a cheap package scope on it, it bit him. I really don't find the '06 that bad, grew up shooting deer with 12ga slugs... I also shoot a bit of .45/70 & .375 H&H every year, it's all relative.

30-06 limitations or does it not have the “cool factor”

I have some 180 ABs, haven't had much luck finding 165s.

30-06 limitations or does it not have the “cool factor”

I have been '06-less for several years, recently did some soul searching & ended up with this for future western elk/black bear hunts:

    T3 Tikka 30-06 Recipe

Win 760 is an old reliable as well, use 180 gr data. I'm going to play around with Ramshot Hunter with my T3X '06 as soon as it warms up a bit.

Nosler 150 ABLR in 6.5 PRC

I've been trying to find 190 gr ABLRs in .308 for two years. Frustrating...

Tying myself in knots trying to settle on a calibre

Also went through this recently, after agonizing about the latest fads in cartridges, I finally settled on a new T3X in .30/06. Would have went with a .308 but already have several.

Christiansen Arms VS Tikka VS Savage

I have never owned a CA (& probably won't). When Rem qc really started going downhill, I switched to Savage. I still own a few, in most cases they will flat-out shoot, but as a friend of mine who calls them "Salvage" rifles says "they're about as refined as a bathtub still." My deer rig is a...

30-06 to 35 Whelen - Rebarrel or rebore

I did a .358 Win in a short action Savage a couple of years ago for IA deer. Re-barreled from a 7mm-08. Haven't made any meat with it yet but it's a great shooter.

    Best powder for .35 Whelen?

I'm running a .358 Win (35 Whelen short) with 200 gr. Hornady SPs but have had good luck with H4895, RL15 & W748. I've heard good things about TAC but I haven't been able to locate any.

    Let's see those 375's

My 50+ year old Model 70, I dream of Africa rifle... mostly a safe queen, only killed paper with it. The VX3 1.5-5 is on loan to my deer rig.
