Ballistically Challenged Newbie Looking a new purchase

The Christenson 1 - 7.5 twist in the .270 will not be of any benefit if you’re buying factory ammo. Skip the Christenson and get a Tikka in 6.5 PRC or .270

    Best path forward

Sell it. A brake on a 300 WBY is unbelievably loud and a suppressor with a 26 inch barrel it’s like carrying around a pole vault. most good Weatherby ammo starts at $100 a box.

What to do with a Rem 7600

Call JES for rebore options. I did the Timney 870 trigger upgrade in a 7600 in my opinion it’s not worth the $125 plus shipping. Mcarbo sells a spring for $12 I put in 870 slug gun both triggers feel the same. Good luck!

Tell me about this .303 British

Not sure why during WW2 the British used the .303 Enfield when the far superior M1 Garand was available?

    Tikka Woes

Unless you want to jump to a $750 or more replacement stock stick with the factory. As mentioned it’s rigid with decent ergonomics, especially after adding a limbsaver, vertical grip, triad tactical stock pack and paint job. After modifications mine has grown on me.

New Tikka Owner. Advice on making it lighter.

Peak 44 Blacktooth stock weighs 19-20oz for Tikka. If I’m correct the Tikka factory stock with limbsaver and vertical grip is 32oz.

    “Backfire” hunting challenge fail

I wouldn’t exactly say his setup was lightweight. Yes 300 WM but with that big ass scope, cheek riser and bipod I would guess around 10lbs?

Ideal weight for Western Hunting Rifle

7.5 lbs for 270 and 8.5 lbs 300WM non brake and non suppressed.

New Weatherby Mark V Live Wild

Lots of options with 20 different cartridges offered. Sportsmen’s Warehouse will eventually have the Live Wild probably a few hundred dollars cheaper vs ordering one. I like Weatherbys products but never understood why they have to team up with a TV hunter on some of their products.

    35 Whelen Max Effective Range

How’s the accuracy of your 7600 carbine? I’m considering reboring my 7600 22 inch to 35 Whelen for Iowa deer. 350 yard shots are possible so if the accuracy isn’t there I could still use it as a woods gun.

    Peak 44 rifle stocks

Did you weigh the stock? I assume it’s still in the 19-20 oz range. They just bumped the price online $40 or $50 don’t recall exactly the cost they were charging a few weeks ago.

What stocks do you all prefer?

You might have a hard time finding a 12 inch LOP I know Boyd’s goes down to 12 3/4. Look at Bell and Carlson for the M70. Lots of nice stocks mentioned on this post but most will cost you double Boyd’s or B&C. Both are great options for the money!

    30-06 vs 300 Weatherby Mag

Split the difference and go 300 Win Mag

Rechambering Rem 700LA 270Win for lower recoil and great "heavy for caliber" hunting performance. What caliber?

I was thinking the same. 129 Barnes LRX another option. I can spot my shots with an 8lb 270 WIN. recoil is mild. A new barrel cost money plus who knows if it will shoot better.
