    Thank you all for the input, I really appreciate it. I've narrowed down to a couple of options and depends on the availability I can go either way. I will start to build the rifle and start shooting. Until the new system is dialed in, I will stick with my 6.5CM. Thanks again!

    I am really intrigued by 300 SAUM but worry about ammo options. I do hand load all my 6.5 CM ammo but not too fond of the process. Thank for the info, I will look into Alex Wheeler's website.

    Best long range hunting rifle and scope for $1500?

    I'd recommend Tikka T3X like many folks mentioned above. Specifically CTR SS version. It's a bit heavier, but more consistent and less recoil. You can pair it with some good Athlon or Vortex scopes.

    Hornady ELDX at longer distances

    I shot 4 coues deers, 2 cow elks from 300 to 550 yards with 143 ELDX with mv of 2700 fps. All with one shot and died either instant or within a min. Expansion is fine from what I can tell. Placement is more important.
