Hey guys, doing the final prep before I head out on my first MT bear hunting trip and trying to cut down on some weight. I'm wondering if it's worth packing bear bags because I'm already planning on hanging my pack. I pack hunt with my rucksack, so it spends most of the year hauling leaky MRE...
I use an Alite Mayfly chair. It's been trucking along for almost a decade now. It packs up smaller than most other chairs and is made to be rocked in, which allows you to easily find the most comfortable sitting position, and stretch your legs a bit. Their customer service is great too. Lost one...
Decided to opt for a chest rig instead of the drop leg. I went with the Hosking after speaking to them on the phone and getting some advice. Thanks for the help.
I know there are mixed opinions on .45 for grizzly attacks, I just cant afford another pistol and $4.50 a gallon to drive to Montana. Thanks for the info on Hosking holsters, I have not heard of them and really like the stuff I'm seeing on their site.
I am getting ready for my spring bear hunt and need a new holster for my M&P Shield 45. I usually appendix carry, but am looking for a better option since I will be wearing a pack. The two options I am looking at are a drop leg holster or a chest harness. My concern with the chest harness is my...
You can probably solve your issue with better insoles. I use the muck arctic pros, and didn't like the original insoles. Switched to some felt thermal insoles and have had countless all day stand sits in the late season with no issues.
There is not much information on here about Mossberg, and I know its because they're cheap, but buying a whole new rifle is not an option for me right now.
I have a Mossberg 100 ATR chambered in 30-06 with a 6-24x56 scope that I will be using for spring bear season in Montana. It has been a...
I am looking for a new pair of hunting pants for spring bear season in northern MT. I am looking at the first lite corrugate or catalyst foundry pants, but would really like to find a cheaper option with similar quality. Are there any comparable options out there in tan or green at a lower price...
Camo gear
My closet had 2 sets of clothing for climbing and hunting. Slowly have sold everything and replaced it all with drab color mountaineering gear. From my experience climbing companies make more durable gear with better warranties (or repair programs). I have one camo midlayer top for...
This is what I usually bring out for pack hunting:
2 tourniquets, one of which is rubber banded to my bino harness so its immediately on hand
4" and 6" Israeli bandages
hemostatic gauze
a shit ton of kerlix
2 large elastic bandages
trauma shears
2 sam splints
2 triangle bandages
1 NPA
chest...
I'm working in Michigan right now and most of my hunting gear is from when I lived in Colorado. I bow hunt, turkey hunt, duck hunt, basically all the very visual forms of hunting, in drab color clothing and have no issues. I am 100% convinced that camo isn't necessary. I buy tan and green gear...
