2021 Mill Creek Watershed Bull Elk Hunt

Thank you. Very fortunate. Getting a branch bull tag in fewer than 20 years is a miracle.

Update after looking over pictures. This is the most "open" part in the bottom of Low Creek.

Depends upon whether or not you can go up 3 or more days before and secure a spot. Look around Deduct Springs. There are a few good spots still about 3-5 days before. Remember, unless it changed, Walla Walla unit has a spike tag same time frame.

Leave it a cooler in the truck! It's motivation to keep going....over and over again!

That bottom has ZERO trails. You can't see crap from in there...I know! You'll have a wide open, easy walk down ridge on Low, just start 1 hour before sunrise (legal). Then you'll be in the lower 3rd at just the right time and all the while keeping your scent (and buddies) from moving up the...

2021 Mill Creek Watershed Bull Elk Hunt

Remember the fire activity last year pushed bulls into the shed. If I drew it again, I'd walk down Low Ridge and glass back at Indian. The two biggest bulls in 2021 were on Indian. You can't glass it from the road because it's at your feet! Good luck...and get mules lined up now!

You actually have a better chance. If 10% of tags (2) are reserved for non resident, you have a better chance than residents going for 23 tags because thousands of applicants chase those tags.

2021 Mill Creek Watershed Bull Elk Hunt

No sir...the success rate has been relatively low for years. Also, while you can hunt with gun, bow handgun, there are not different seasons and correspondingly more tags. Walla Walla, Wenaha and Mt. Emily have archery season tags and also rifle season tags. With more tags being offered...

Well, I put in for it again this year. I have a 2% chance. When you draw it, let me know. I have some suggestions that could increase your success. Thank you.

I mentioned earlier the 67 degree slope....yes, it was steep. The entire unit is STEEP! I'm not on my knees in this screenshot.

2021 Mill Creek Watershed Bull Elk Hunt

In 2021, of the 25 WA tags and 20 OR tags, 5 bulls were taken....all on Oregon side. Yes, this year was different. And I don't thing it is a improving "trend". There was a great deal of human activity fighting the surrounding Wenaha fire. Helicopters, heavy equipment and planes. Plus our...

2021 Mill Creek Watershed Bull Elk Hunt

I believe there were 2 additional bulls taken on Oregon side. One very nontypical (probably 390"+) and a bull around 370"...based on pictures I saw.

2021 Mill Creek Watershed Bull Elk Hunt

Thank you. It was a 9 day hunt. I shot the bull at 10:45 a.m. Opening Day. It took 45 minutes to walk the 560 yards. The "Shed" is not for faint of heart (or folks that like beer!) We skinned and quartered the bull on 67 degree slope. Paracord is a MUST! By 3:00 p.m., fog rolled in and...
