Revic vs tricer vs other tripod

I have the Revic Hunter tripod. I've had it for about 6 months now and so far, I'm really impressed. I've done some shooting off of it using varying calibers and as long as you manage your recoil it holds steady. My one issue is the weight. For backpacking it's a pig to carry around but it...

Convince me Crispi makes a top quality boot ...

I have a pair of Crispi Colorado's and they are super comfy for my feet. I wear them everyday. And I wear them for early season stuff, like antelope, archery deer, rifle deer. I step up my boot game when I hit elk season or I'm in high mountains. For those trips I wear La Sportiva Grand Dru...

Bugling to locate late-season bulls: good, bad, or ugly?

I've had more success with cow calling during that time frame than bugling. If I remember right, some cows will go into a second cycle if they didn't get bred the first go around. I'm no biologist so if I'm wrong I apologize. But they will come into a cow call.

    Lowering Hilleberg Weight

I have a solo hilleberg. I did what everyone above mentioned. Cut the zipper pulls and the guy lines and replace it all with 1.8mm cord. I also tied a purrisk knot on the guy lines for tensioners. Beyond that you're going to start shaving weight at the cost of durability and functionality.

    Smoke/haze Glassing tips?

The best thing I've found is pack a lightweight tarp with you and use it as a sun shade. It helps keep access light out which also reduces glare. Also understanding wildfire behavior. Generally, you will have more smoke/haze at first and last light, which of course screws up the ideal time to...

Best rear bag for backpack hunts

A rear bag is a crucial piece of equipment. I've been playing around with several different styles. The only not home made one I've used is a Red Tac Rear bag. It's pretty firm and is filled with the hard plastic beads and weighs 1lb 7oz. Now When I'm backpack hunting, I keep the mantra of...

    Possible move to Wyoming-Cheyenne

I grew up on the opposite side of Wyoming from Cheyenne. Best state in the union in my opinion. I went to college in Laramie. Really fun town. The college football games are an absolute blast. The snowy range is a great area to cut your teeth on western hunting. Particularly archery hunting. I...
