After passing on this guy throughout the season, I’m convinced that he was the best I was going to turn up with the my particular tag and the weather conditions. Solid buck but won’t score well. I’m happy though.
I’m planning to sunbathe and take advantage of this weather the remainder of the...
Some new faces are starting to show. We may get some snow on Thursday and season ends on Friday. So far, 3 mature bucks spotted but nothing that comes close to the 180" mark. I did find a mature forkie that is 28"+ and is 6.5+ years in age. I saw him last year while elk hunting and he's pretty...
I have a 3rd Season buck tag in 54. I am definitely seeing some rut activity. All the groups of does on private have a buck or two around them. I haven't seen anything huge, but the switch is about to flip. There are some more mature bucks starting to filter in.
I did see a herd of elk and they...
This will likely be my only one. I got my Dall with my rifle and plan to do the same on the others. It was more about drawing the tag and actually sheep hunting. I practiced my tail off and got rewarded with this ram. It's by far my biggest hunting accomplishment.
We can't have hunters competing for the wolves' food supply. Everyone knows there's way more money in wolf tourism dollars than hunting dollars. At least that's what they believe on the Front Range.
"#1. I’m not out of Texas. I do hunt there a lot. But that’s not where I’m from."
Yet your phone number's area code is from the Permian Basin...
You're also being mentioned on the KS forum of Bowsite. Might as well go defend yourself over there while you're at it.
They stand to pee every 3 hours or so. Unless daylight or wind is an issue, don't force something that will eventually happen on its own.
Funny story on this. I had 3 bulls come and cross a sage flat below me and bed way up above me. My father was on a different part of the ranch and I told him...
I’m in 5A right now on private. I’ve seen nothing respectable on camera and no rutting activity. I have a tag that I can activate before the end of January but nothing worthy of activating has been spotted as of late.
The late season bull action has been favorable though.
It can be done. However, I got my Dall with a rifle and plan to get the other two with a rifle. For me, it was about drawing the tag that factored into Colorado sheep with a bow. I knew the odds were stacked against me but at least I would be sheep hunting.
Considering that a .375 is the minimum caliber allowed for dangerous game in Africa, I don’t see where your BAR is even part of the discussion.
My point was that it was asinine for the man to suggest taking a dangerous game rifle that is built for Africa up into the elk mountains.
I had a dumbass in a TX Cabela’s tell me that I needed a 416 Rigby for elk. “They’re big animals!”
I was looking at double rifles. Yeah, I’ll take my Dakota 76 up into the mountains that weighs 12+ lbs and drops like hell after 200 yards slinging a 400 grain Barnes Triple Shock.
I’ve only...
Yesterday morning, a friend watched a bull mount a cow. I know whitetails are known to cycle again if they didn't get bred the first cycle. I've shot my two biggest whitetails after the rut chasing fawns that were cycling late. Maybe what he saw was a calf that cycled? Just seems odd for this...
