I have a 22 foot wall tent, use 3 usb led light bulbs, and hook them up to a old motorcycle battery, with 12v to usb adapters. Very cheap especially if you have old batteries around, last forever...
I've tried lots of bags, I have been using the cloud 35 for two years now. I am really loving it. 1#7oz.
Its like a quilt, but has a piece of fabric along the back to stop drafts.
I have switching between a xtherm and a nemo switchback ccf pad.
Added in a mec deluxe pillow... 2#12oz.
Its worth...
I've had the s.o. lbo, the lunar solo, a few big Agnes and a few tap tents... My latest shelter I am really looking is the dan durston xmid. Double wall, inner 2# check it out.
Hey
I have a small Morkie that likes to come for hikes/hunts.
But he's to small for some terrain and can't last all day hiking.
I have a kuiu pack. I'm hoping to get some ideas what you would do .
I'd essentially like 2 bags, bottom for gear, a open top for the dog.
My best idea so far is a...
Check out the Dan durston xmid
I've used a bunch of the ultralight tents out there, my main hunting partner used a tarp tent bowfin.
I like the x mid the best. Easy setup, double wall, under 2#.

The Green one in the lunar solo. It was ok, single wall.
I sold my LBO. I just didn't use it, id carry the stove everytime but by the time we stopped to setup camp it was either dark or I just didn't care enough to spend a hour getting it going.
It just didn't work for our style of hunting...
I have this tent.
I've owned more then my fair share... Seek outside LBO, a couple big Agnes, six moons design lunar solo, etc.
This one seems the easiest and in my opinion the best design if you don't need a stove.

I got my xmid in the mail yesterday. I am pretty happy with it.
I had the duomid, then the mountain shelter from Jimmy, then s.o lbo, my last tent was the lunar solo...
Now the xmid.
One thing I didn't like about bivys or single wall was the condensation... I just could never get it right.
So...
I have the lunar solo. It's been good. Held up in some horrific winds.
But I recently pre ordered the Dan durston xmid from Massdrop... Check out the reviews, tons of great ones out there. Can't wait for it.
I don't know if changing your bag is a option. I recently bought a sierra designs cloud, it has a pad sleeve to attach the pad to the bag. Works great. Always wake up on your pad.
I was in the same boat.
I have a 13f bag that I've used for six years, sweating all night, luging its 3.5# weight around everywhere worried I didn't want to be cold.
My buddies have quilts and down bags, but I couldn't decide till I saw this one.... It had everything I was looking for...
I thought some of you might interested in this.
I hate drafts so I can never use a quilt. But I also wanted something around #1 cause I carry a puffy jacket anyway.
I picked up the Sierra design cloud 35. It's a ziperless sleeping bag design. Has a self closing foot vent which I like... And a...
I posted this yesterday in another thread, but I have been using the six moons lunar solo trekking pole tent. Roughly $200 and 26 oz.
Backpacker have it 2019 editor choice award if you want a good review.
It's held up to some really heavy wind. It's single wall so need to be prepared for that...
My hunting buddy has the bowfin1 he likes it a lot. But now after a year of use says he would get the 2. There is barely enough room for your boots in the vestibule. You either need to bring your bag inside the nest, or leave it out in the elements.
But other then that I have seen it in some...
I bought a couple different ones similar to this, both were well made. And the price was right.

I do similar to above.
Boil for 4 hours, pressure wash, I use simple green degreaser. And simmer it on the element I boiled the head on for thirty.
Then brush on formula 40, plastic wrap it, And put it in front of a heater for a hour to whiten the skull.
