I've got sheep on the brain.....and in my belly!!!

The sheep mountains are never far from my mind, especially this time of year...but, today's sheep stew is the perfect comfort food on this chilly "spring" day.

That ram took it in the hinny. Shouldn’t run, they only die tired.
Sheep stew is one of my favorites.
Pray for quick melting snow up in the mountains.

I love in the field sheep pics. I need to get a scope deal for my iPhone. Freehanding it sucks.

What better way to reminisce about sheep hunting, than doing so with a hot bowl of sheep stew.

And i am with you on the camera thing Jake. I used a scope phone attachment a few years ago, and was able to get some great footage of Peninsula Brown Bears. The last few years, though, I've been free handing it. If I have time, I can usually get good pics free handing, but video, not so much.

You guys are making me hungry!! I'm down to my last few packages of MT bighorn in the freezer, and stingy is an understatement. We have had a wild game roast in the slow cooker for 2 first birthdays already and my last ram roast will be savored on my third daughter's first birthday this year.

This made me go back and take a nice long mouth watering look at my first sheep ever, and sharing part of it with my fiancé and the future inlaws. They thought going into the meal that it was going to be similar to eating the goat backstraps I’ve brought home before....they were gladly mistaken and they are all now pro - Adam hunting sheep.

It was a win-win! I’m ready for another round of sheep steaks!! 🥩

Man that looks good. Moved to BC last summer now I am a resident so that means hunting this year. One of my students shot a grizzly and a Mountain Goat last year (13 yrs old) and he gave me some goat steaks. They were so good, can't wait to try sheep one day.

Is it August yet?

Still got a bit of Stone sheep in freezer and a fair bit of Dall. Sure a treat every time we have some. Been rationing it...in vacuum sealed freezer bags it lasts for about ever. 907, that is a heck of a nice ram and good looking stew.

Thank you Blockcarver. I think it's great that most of the comments here have been about the delicacy of sheep, and not asking what the "numbers" on the ram are. In the end, we hunt to sustain life. Sustenance, culture, viability, just of the few of the benefits we gain by hunting these amazing animals.
