I am just getting interested in hunting predators as we currently have a HUGE increase in our populations here in BC. I traded a Mini-14 sts factory folder for a Ruger MKII-lam.stock, factory rings and Leupy Vari-XII 4x12AO and also kept a Bushnell 3000 4x12 AO when I traded my Kimber 82C that I never used and will set this up with 55s over RE-15 to about 36-3700 when I get my loading room redone.

I also have a minty P-64 Westerner .264WM. that is pillared into a Micky G&H with original steel Warnes holding a Zeiss Conquest 4.5x14 and intend to load some lighter bullets for it, maybe 120s.

These SHOULD deal with Coyotes, Wolves and any Cougars, Lynx or B-Cats I may call up and I am hunting B-Bears, feral pigs and Turkeys next month, using my "beater" Classic 70, custom built into a 23" .338WM in a Micky Fwt. I have a Benelli Nova Turkey gun and my custom Merkel drilling in 12-12x9.3/74R to deal with Turkeys as we cannot use CF rifles for them in BC.

I have "enough" big game rifles, so, am going to build/buy a few predator guns and do my bit to get their numbers down as their impact on our ungulates is just terrible.

Rock River AR-15 with a Shilen barrel. Topped with the Nikon m-223.. Not a big fan of the scope personally but it is fairly solid. Also have magpul flip up open sights at 45 degrees off my top rail. Works good for me hunting alone most of the time...

I had a .204 Rem 700 with a BBL. I sold that and bought a Savage Predator Hunter Max 1chambered in a .243. I just put a Vortex 4-16x44 HST on the gun. I like the Savage a lot. I have always been a Remington guy when it comes to factory rifles but my bro bought a Savage LRH last year and I was very impressed. So I upgraded my predator rifle.

My current go-to rifle is a 6x6.8 with a 20" Black Hole Weaponry barrel. The upper was built by Ritch Johnson (Ritch's Precision Guns) and the lower is a New Frontier Armory with a BTE trigger. It shoots better than any other rifle I've ever owned and is an absolute hammer on coyotes. I've been shooting 58gr V-maxes at around 3,450-3,500fps. View attachment 24727View attachment 24728

My Rock River Arms R3 .556/.223 arrived last week. It's built as a 3 gun rifle, but the 18" fluted barrel is as accurate as a varmint barrel. So, I get the accuracy but can use the gun for tactical shooting as well. Topped it with a Burris PEPPR quick detach mount and a Vortex 4-12x40. Just sited the gun in and if it ever stops raining in northern Colorado I'll shoot some prairie dogs and coyotes. So far I love the feel and weight of the gun.

Build your own 6.8 SPC2. It is built off of a AR15 platform with its own barrel, bolt, and mag. Uses a .270 bullet that range from 82-130gr. You can build your own over time and there is no need to pay someone to do it. With the right components you can build a rifle that shoots .5 MOA with handloads, as long as the shooter does his part. If this catches your interest look into the 95gr TTSX and 120gr SST's with AA2200. This will handle your predator needs.

I run either a Savage/McGowan .220 Swift with a 3.5 lb Timney or a 20"AR in .223 Free Floated with a 3 lb Jard.

Black Rain 223/5.56 is my favorite for spooky animals.
Remington 700 in 22-250 for corn field calling.
Benelli SBE 2 or Custom Ruger 10/22 for thick stuff.
