I bring 50' also. I cut it to hang game bags and therefore purchase 50' worth each year just in case I'll need the whole length. Used it one year to lower our packs off a cliff face; won't go with anything less than 50' for me.

Synthetic winch rope is made of dyneema and fairly cheap on eBay.

I splice my line in two sections totalling 50 feet - 25' of paracord and 25' dyneema.
